No "Wrath", yes Ceti Alpha V

Suppose the events of TWOK never happened and someone, as Spock said, did "return to that world in a hundred years and to learn what crop has sprung from the seed you planted today." What could TNG have done for a follow-up on "Space Seed"?

Assuming the planet was not destroyed and a society developed.
So, assuming Ceti Alpha 6 hadn't ever exploded, & the Botany Bay settlers had been given a century on a primitive but habitable world, as promised?

Well, 73 of them could've spawned a society of maybe a max 2800 people or so in that time. Most of them would only have 20th century skills & knowledge, to start with. It'd be rough going for that 1st century, optimizing for maximum birthrate, & community development. Given their augmented intelligence & spacecraft age knowledge, it's feasible they manage to reach space by then, which would maybe provide even more developmental benefits, that further add to their growth.

It's fairly given that with their knowledge of current human advancement, they'd be geared toward getting back out there, in space, to benefit from what being on the Enterprise exposed them to.

Were that the case, it should be concerning, as the original population was in fact driven from Earth for their attempts to overtake it, which would likely be a similar outcome for the intergalactic community they'd eventually regain access to. Honestly? Starfleet sort of set up a timebomb, by dropping them anywhere to colonize. I'm not sure wtf the moral alternative would've been, but down the line, they're gonna be dealing with power hungry augments again

The Federation's enemies might have allied with them in that time span.
Possibly... only if they find out about them. In order for that to happen, they'd have to make themselves known off world. I doubt Starfleet would've made it common knowledge.

"Hey everybody, watch out for the planet full of evil supergeniuses with a grudge against us" :guffaw:

It could happen accidentally, or word may have gotten out through unofficial channels. Perhaps the Augments even managed to make contact with someone offworld (if Spock can use "stone knives and bearskins" to access the info on a tricorder, a superintelligent human can possibly create a simple radio)

Perhaps a reworking of "The Masterpiece Society", with that being Ceti Alpha 5 after a century.
Those people weren't power hungry mad men fleeing an entire postwar planet lol I don't see the same kind of idyllic utopia springing up from renegade war criminals

I don't think there would be very many survivors, if any. Too many would-be conquerors with dinosaur-sized egos, raised to be Caesars, doesn't seem like a basis for a stable society. They all wanted to be rulers, and now they're stuck on Gilligan's Island for the rest of their lives (minus the humor). I don't believe it would be very long before civil war broke out, and given their abilities and temperaments, it would be a very nasty one. Forget "The Masterpiece Society," this would be much more like "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield."

McGivers would have taken over early on when it became clear everyone else was totally incapable. Khan's a proven loser who already screwed up governance once before, and his people are circus clowns who somehow managed to lose to the Enterprise crew (and whose response to being challenged was "let's blow up the entire ship and ourselves").

McGivers' utopia would presumably involve Khan being tasked with looking dangerously handsome in various poses while she paints him, while the rest of the Botany Bay ubermensch die of starvation as they try and fail to start a simple potato farm.

I figure Khan keeps everyone in line, they all respect him. After he dies of old age things get interesting. Probably a schism between his daughter, who is only half augment, and another leader, probably Joachim's son.

I think this is the most likely outcome. Khan himself basically said so in "SPACE SEED" during the dinner. "One man would have ruled eventually."

It would be basically be Mortal Kombat, but without the rules... or an Agatha Christie book. Could even call the sequel episode "And Then There Were None...".

I’ve always felt an interesting, unique and viable local civilization could have evolved out of them. For all that I like TWOK, I was always a bit sorry that that possibility was cut off.
