No swearing in pubic in Preston Great Britain

I swear to God, it's only Americans who have this insane aversion to ever seeing breasts in public.

I've got three words for you: get over it. Women have every right to breastfeed in public, and I am against any law that would try to curtail it.

I'm against legislating "manners" to begin with so your argument gets no traction with me.

I have a bigger aversion to seeing an crying infant suck a woman's tit in public than I do someone saying 'fuckin ya."

You cannot make the 'good manners,' argument on one IMHO without including the other.
I'm okay with breastfeeding, but it's much appreciated when you cover up a little with a blanket. :)

I was born Preston before moving to Éire for studies, I think the council needs to look around the city if they think swearing is the worst thing to be found they are in for shock. While I agree that swearing in public is bad taste and a bad example, I feel this ban will be unworkable.

The larger issue obviously is what people consider to be 'good manners,' and not and should good manners be legislated? There are many behaviors that people don't consider to be 'good manners,' that I'd hope we wouldn't legislate.

I have no problem with swearing and breastfeeding...

Especially if they occur simultaneously. :techman:

I don't really care about breastfeeding one way or the other. I mean, obviously I love to partake of the rack, as any straight male would. I can see why gay guys might not want to see them in public. But I assume that women feed their babies in this manner because they need to do it. It's not an exhibitionist thing or anything like that, they do it because it's necessary. So I would be against punishing them for it.

Not to derail my own thread but Anthony Weiner just admitted that he twittered his own weiner picture [] after first denying it and suggesting that his Twitter account was hacked.

Talk about the ongoing bad taste and poor manners of our Congress people. :wtf: Will there be no end to this kind of shit?

One tabloid thread at a time, DT.

Anyway, a woman needing to breastfeed her child should have every right to do so. A person who wishes to swear in public has every right to do so. Sorry, kids, life isn't rated PG, and shouldn't be. Life can be nasty, cruel, and disgusting, but also sweet, joyful and wonderful.

From what I recall about the breastfeeding incident, the driver did come in from critisim for his actions. Can't remember if other passangers objected or not.

And swearing.

Exactly. Breastfeeding is the same as swearing, and both are the same as shitting in a restaurant in public.

You know what offends me?

Eating.

The biting, the chewing, the swallowing. The gnawed bones and gravy-stained lips. The bits of green stuff in the teeth.

It's revolting. It's like taking a shit, in reverse.

People shouldn't be allowed to eat in public. Especially in restaurants.

Oh god, I agree. You know what else makes me sick? Breathing in public. I mean, in, out, in, out, in, out, and do you know where that comes from? Your lungs! Inside your body! Why don't they keep that stuff inside instead of letting it out and making others hear it? Do you know how perverse it sounds? Why are they letting people engage in pornography right in public?

I wonder if Preston has this?
