I'm sick of time travel in Star Trek. On the other hand, I love time travel in Doctor Who.

I was thinking about this more and the only example I can think of where I liked time travel and thought it worked well, was in Quantum Leap. Mainly because it was random like real life and the point was to someone how get the right combination of life-changing evens right for other people so Sam Beckett could get back to his own time.

^^^ So you believe that at some point in the course of the JJ Abrams alternative timeline the "time police" are going to reverse the effects of all of Nero's actions and put 155 years of prime timeline back in place?

No, because no writer, director or producer is ever going to return to the Prime timeline. They effectively killed that option off by doing the new movie.

"Ever" is a long time. I don't expect JJ's gang to return there for the upcoming movies, but maybe if we get to movie #5 or #6, I could see them playing around with the Prime & New realities...and if & when Trek is back on TV, there's no reason we couldn't see all three known realities (MU too). TV requires a lot of fodder for stories, so why be shy about tossing everything in the pot?

Twelve Monkeys for instance had the "time traveller as tourist" problem (I think )

Cole could influence the timeline.
