It's to bad we did not see him. They could of had an episode where the Galactica found the last Daniel living somewhere, etc..

The reason they couldn’t was that Moore was continuity obsessed and it would make the Angel’s statement to Baltar there are twelve models false.

If you noticed, in Razor they rescued two humans at the end. The reason? They killed two humans and the survivor number did not change between the two episodes Razor happened between.

Out of interest has it ever been said what they did plan from the start? Was it always planned that they were actually in the far past and when they get to Earth it would be "150,000 years ago" (from our POV)?

I doubt they planned that in the beginning. It was good way to get them to Earth and not have to worry about dealing with our society (as Galactica 1980 attempted to). The other way was to find an Apocolyptic Earth, but they already covered that earlier.

I think they came up with that at the same time RDM was throwing darts at a board to determine WHO the 'Final 5' were.
