No Edward Norton for The Avengers

Mark Ruffalo is a terrific actor and always fun to see in movies, but he isn't my idea of Banner. :wtf: I visualize the guy as, I dunno, a cross between Christopher Gorham and Tom Hanks.

If Ruffalo wants a Marvel character role, I'd give him Dr. Strange instead. He'd be able to play offbeat, playful and menacing all at the same time.

I'd rather have had David Tennant as Loki, but the guy they got looks good in costume so I'll go see the movie anyways.

Bill Bixby was never my idea of what Banner should be like physically either, but he's still my favorite. I figure, if the actor is likable/engaging enough, the rest is just details.

They've cast Loki already?

They've cast Loki already?
Thor started production in January, so Loki was cast ages ago (over a year ago in fact). Tom Hiddleston is playing the part.

Of course, there's no guarantee that Loki will be in the Avengers movie. Just because he was in AVENGERS #1 doesn't mean the movie will follow suit. Superhero movies seldom do a literal adaptation of the first issue. Usually they cherry-pick from the entire run of the series for the best ideas and characters.

Otherwise FANTASTIC FOUR would have featured the Mole Man instead of Dr. Doom. And I doubt that THOR will have him fighting the Stone Men from Saturn . . .

Oh, that's right. I hadn't thought about that. Is Thor gonna be more in Asgard or Earth?

Mostly Earth, but there will be a fair share of Asgard action as well.

Mmmmmm, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster....

That's Anthony Hopkins as Odin, right? Why does he have an eyepatch? (Nick Fury envy?)

Is she gonna be dyed blonde, or just dark-haired?

According to the Norse myths, Odin sacrificed one eye in exchange for wisdom.

So he was actually rocking the eyepatch thing way before Nick Fury! :)

And, as I recall, Jane Foster was a brunette in the original Lee/Kirby comics.

I was reading through the B&W Avengers Essentials volume one. The early stories alone are a real goldmine of epic stories that can be adapted: Baron Zemo I and the Masters of Evil, Kang, Namor, Loki, they have more than enough plots to adapt for Avengers.

Hell, if they want to go to later stories just use the Skrulls or Ultron.

I haven't seen SW2 or V for Vendetta, so Garden State is still my main enduring memory of her. I can live with it, but I do think it's a little strange they didn't cast a blonde.

Why? Jane Foster had short brown hair in the original comics. I don't recall her every being a blonde.

Are you sure you're thinking of the right character?

Actually, I think my problem was that I've only read the old Thor comics in the B&W Essential collections, and so when they took the apparently brown color plates out of her hair, I assumed it was blonde.

My bad. Never been exactly a huge Thor fan (which, like as not, will probably increase the chances that I'll like any movie version).
