Actually, as an aside, Spock's line in TCM about Balok reminding him of his father would fit better with BOT since ML was in both BOT and JTB anyway.

West is a tough one because he and Shatner read as the same age. Guys like Tracey and the Commodores were played by guys who seemed older than Shatner, even when they weren't. Alien captains are a possibility. West as the Romulan Commander or Koloth?
He could certainly sell the hell out of a frantic Professor Starnes, even if he's more of a WAY TO EDEN type.

Paula Prentiss was so good looking, I can't even wrap my head around it. I would be totally onboard with having her in the Big Three with Shatner and Nimoy. I would also have liked Marianna Hill (Helen Noel). Nothing against DeForest Kelley, but he just didn't have what a hot woman has.
I'd rather not. It's the only tolerable Barrett performance I've ever seen.

... could also work as a backup Kirk, or Kirk relative. You may remember Murphy as the mad scientist in Frankenstein's Daughter (1958), and supporting roles in 1960s TV. His characters had an unusual personality.
