No Anchorman 2!?! :(

Paramount has pretty much passed on Anchorman 2. Not gonna' happen.

Yet, they green lit a movie based on the Magic 8 Ball.

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE!?!

I'm sorry...I'm in a glass case of emotion.

I didn't realize an Anchorman 2 was ever even a possibility.

Adam McKay and Will Ferrell have been planning it for awhile now, but it was always a case of getting the cast together through busy schedules and getting a budget green light from Paramount.

Adam McKay said yesterday that, even after whittling the budget down several times, Paramount passed on the project.

A first film that had a budget of $26 million and made over $90 million, and that has made a killing on DVD and become a cult and well loved movie since being on DVD, and they pass.

To make a Magic 8 Ball movie.

What...the...fuck.

Milk was a bad idea.

Honestly, wasn't a big fan of the movie so can't say I care. Feel bad for the fans, sure, but... feh.

The 8 Ball movie is just stupid.

Anchorman is a personal taste barometer for me.

Trekker just failed.

I don't like you anymore. :(

I liked it, but I think it fell apart pretty much in the last act (kinda didn't care for the fight, however.) Maybe I need to see it again, I dunno, it took me a couple of viewings to like the first Austin Powers movie. But after seeing Anchorman once I decided it was funny, I liked it, but felt little need to watch again.

Sorry.

Not a Ferrell fan and I think it might be his worst film. Friends told me the unrated version was better. Of course the version I saw was the unrated version!

You better apologize. I thought we really had something here! :(

Stay classy T'Baio ;)

I realize Will Ferrell has lost some of his bankability with some of the big budget flops or underperforming movies he's done lately, but I think with the love of Anchorman it would be worth it to make. Of course it depends on how much it would actually cost to make the sequel.

I loved Ferrell doing those Ron Burgundy audition tapes for ESPN he did for the Espys a year or two ago.

I thought there were already two Anchorman movies? I swear I saw a DVD box with two Anchorman movies

There was, when it was originally released on DVD. The 2nd film was packaged together with the original. There was an entire sub plot of the film that was cut out, and they ad libbed so much on the film, that there was enough material to make a 2nd movie. It's actually more of a different version of the film. The first act and a half is mostly the same, but then it veers off in an entirely different direction with the plot instead focussing on some revolutionary militant group, featuring Maya Rudolph, that has taken Applegate's character hostage so that they can get on the TV and get their message out. The news team assembles to rescue her and take out the militants.

It's actually quite funny. Not quite as good as the theatrical version, but hilarious nonetheless.

That's too bad. I loved Anchorman, and would have thought a sequel would be a can't miss (with the original cast returning of course).

I've seen Anchorman and the rest of Will Ferrell movies of that ilk and I've outgrown them.

Seriously, what would the plot be this time?
