nobody ever really goes away on Star Trek. didn't Shatner resurrect Kirk in some novel?

Star Trek: The Return..a great story on bringing Kirk back..would make a perfect movie - the Romulans teaming up with the Borg and bringing Kirk back to battle Picard and the Federation..love it.
