Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist--Great Movie!

I didn't know anything about this...but if this is a remake of/takeoff on The Thin Man, then it can't possibly be as good as the original. I can't tell from the earlier posts for sure, but some people seem to think this is related to THE Nick and Nora. As in, the only ones worth watching Nick and Nora.

Anyway, I hope this is something completely different and they just chose an unfortunate set of names for the characters. Because the only Nick and Nora Charles I will ever been interested in are played by William Powell and Myrna Loy. No one will EVER come close. Not in a million years. :p

Trying to remake The Thin Man is like trying to remake Casablanca or Gone With the Wind. Why try to improve on perfection?

Not even close.

Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist is about a teenage boy, recently broken up with his girlfriend, meeting another girl and their bonding one night in NYC trying to find where a popular band is playing and the wackiness that insues.

Not even close to the The Thin Man's plot.

Thin Man? Isn't that about a crime solving, alcoholic couple?

This just a romance about a couple who meet cute during a night on the town and bond through their love of indie music.

On a related note, at no point during The Godfather is "Sonny" Corleone exiled on Ceti Alpha 5 and driven mad by the death of his wife. ;)

Took a while, but er finally found something as to which we are in complete agreement.

Oh, and it seems the writer was "inspired by" the interplay between Nick and Nora Charles.

^ Well, I'm glad at least SOME modern scriptwriter was 'inspired' by something worth being inspired by.

But I'm still extremely glad this is related to The Thin Man only in 'inspiration' and the names of the characters.

Glad that got cleared up. Seemed like a few of the early posts were comparing the two, and I wasn't sure if it was a remake or not.

Glad it's not.

I enjoyed it too. Kinda funny, definitely makes you want to spend a night on the town in NYC. Agree with popular sentiment on Michael Cera and Kat Dennings (Same character but funny/gorgeous).

Saw it in a cheap theater - wouldn't spend $8 for the experience, but its definitely worth seeing either cheap or on TV/DVD. Then again, I prefer only to spend theater money on big spectacle movies where huge screens and bowel-loosening sound are essential.

I thought it was beautifuly made too.

The sex/makeout/frontage scene between Nick and Nora was beautifuly done with the pan across the equipment in the studio over the sounds of Norah's orgasim ending up on the sound meters.

Beautiful scene and listening to Kat Dennings have an orgasam gives ME an orgasm!

;)

This movie was based on a book written by two people that has been out for some time, I believe.

I thought it was pretty good. I mostly went to see Kat Dennings, who is extremely hot.

She has her own blog at KatDennings.com if anyone is interested.
