Nick Meyers new interview. Working on a secret trek project

I'm guessing he's involved in a novel or comic tie-in.

My guess: book, comic or 4K transfer.

CBS needs to be certain that the world actually wants new Star Trek and that's what Discovery is the first step towards. Right now, the vocal response is a big no. You can argue that it's not the Trek that fans want. But that's not what an outsider would see.
I just remembered that they did announce that we'd get a Discovery comic along with the novel being written by David Mack. We haven't heard anything about whose writing it yet.....

Ding! That's almost certainly true. It'll be something to do with one of his two films, and it's Wrath of Khan's 35th anniversary.
Meyer and Paramount already did a 4K UHD remaster of Wrath of Khan last year.

So unless Paramount is now doing the same for VI (which I doubt), it's probably something else.

It doesn't need to be that. But it was done to curry favor of some Trek fans.
Nah it wasn't. Doug Drexler designed it on his own, it was what he thought the evolution of the design would be.

Well Dexler is a trek fan, so I guess you're sorta right?

You had some TOS fans howling about that design for years. There's no way it wasn't done as an attempt at appeasement.

Then, to cap it off, it is dog fucking ugly to boot. Let's take two mismatched styles and mash them together. Brilliant!

Lower your expextations or you'll be disappointed, I doubt it's something really huge, he wouldn't drop hints in that case because CBS would rip his head off.
Into Darkness exists and while Beyond was good, it wasn't that good. My expectations for a Trek film could not possibly be lower so long as Jay Jay the Abrams Plane has any chance of coming back to Trek films.

He wrote blogs on designing it, it had nothing to do with appeasement.

It was't even an official design, he did it on his own after the show was cancelled.

He hinted at a TV show. Since it's not likely to be live action with DSC around, seems logical that it may be an animated show..unless it's a documentary.

When Fuller was still involved a lot of fans would ask him about a Trek series set AFTER the events of DS9, VOY, etc and he responded multiple times with the phrase 'All good things...'. I always imagined this was a hint that DSC would move forwards in era as it progressed, perhaps with each season moving forwards in time with a story arc spanning generations (how awesome would that be?!). But maybe THIS is the project he was referring to - will there be a sister show set in that timeline?

Sounds like you just horribly misinterpreted his words to me
