How a filmmaker’s San Francisco obsession helped shape ‘Star Trek IV’

Ran across this article about Nicholas Meyer and San Francisco and how it fed into Time After Time and Star Trek IV It also mentions a couple of screenings at the Vogue if you're in or near SF.

More Information
Nicholas Meyer in person: Saturday, June 13. “Time After Time,” 2:30 p.m., followed by Q&A with Meyer and producer Steven-Charles Jaffe. “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home,” 6:30 p.m., followed by Q&A with Meyer and Chronicle culture critic Peter Hartlaub. $25 per movie, $40 for both. Vogue Theatre, 3290 Sacramento St., S.F. voguemovies.com

The article is paywalled, so I can't read it. However, rather than being the source of it, I thought Meyer was essentially forced into using San Francisco as the location for TVH. Didn't he actually request to set it in Paris since Time After Time had already been done in San Francisco? Wasn't he turned down by Bennett for cost reasons?

It only won't open for me if an adblocker is on, and only on some browsers.

I am simply sharing the article. I'm not privy to what stories Meyer may have told when.
