Nice interview with Sean Kenney

Kenny said:
I think the idea of good writing and good executing of the product, which I think took place with Star Trek, even though they didn’t have the technology they have now or the budget, it stands the test of time. I think that people recognized that in the episodes even though it seemed hokey sometimes that things didn’t look that great compared to other shows that came along. I think it’s like Shakespeare said, that the play is the thing.
Right on! :bolian:

I wrote an article based on that and it was a pleasure to read the referring article.

Plus - I had never seen what Kenney looked like minus his makeup. Yowsa! What a damned shame to have hidden that face.

Thanks for sharing, Dennis :techman:

I really enjoyed the first season recurring crewmen (DePaul, DeSalle, Farrell, Riley, etc). Shame that the ever tightening budget saw them all disappear.

So, you've never seen "Arena" or "A Taste of Armageddon"?

We see Sean Kenney as Lieutenant DePaul twice: the first time is in "Arena" in the Navigation position.

The second time is in "A Taste of Armageddon" in the Helmsman position.

It's almost too bad that they put so much makeup on Mr. Kenney for his Pike role. With his dark hair and light blue eyes, he bore quite a resemblance to Jeffrey Hunter. (Interestingly, his gig as the invalid Captain Pike was prior to his two DePaul episodes.)

Indeed. The resemblance in your first screencap is uncanny.
