NHL Play Off Prediction thread

Good call -- The Penguins just today officially removed the "Interim" tag from Dan Bylsma's title -- he's now the "permanent" head coach.

Bylsma may have seemingly come out of nowhere, but supposedly the hockey experts who know about these sorts of things knew about Bylsma's potential and are not surprised that he has had success so far (albeit early success).

Will removing the interim label now jinx the man and the team? I hope not!

Maybe it will relieve the team of one more unneeded concern going into the second round. At any rate, it's a great decision.

Aww, crap. Washington. Disco Dan's gonna have to earn his promotion on this one.

ROUND 2

WEST
#2 Detroit vs. #8 Anaheim
#3 Vancouver vs. #4 Chicago

EAST
#1 Boston vs. #6 Carolina
#2 Washington vs. #4 Pittsburgh

1st round results:

JohnnyRaceFan: 5 for 8 with no correct results

BigFoot: 5 for 8 with two correct results (Wings, Bruins)

AdmiralGarak : 7 for 8 with two correct results (Hurricanes, Blackhawks)

Garak: 6 for 8 with two correct results (Hurricanes, Penguins)

4th Hanson Bro: 6 for 8 with three correct results (Hurricanes, Hawks, Penguins)

The HabsFan: 5 for 8 with three correct results (Hawks, Capitals, Penguins)

DBR: 4 for 8 with two correct results (Bruins, Wings)

Nice work boys!

Man, t hose two game 7's last night were simply awesome. Can't believe the last 1:30 of the Devils/Hurricanes game, unreal to watch. I think Martin Brodeur just played himself off Team Canada, and it's Luongo's job to lose now.

As for 2nd round predictions:
West
Detroit/Anaheim: Anaheim in 6
Vancouver/Chicago: Canucks in 7

East
Boston/Carolina: Carolina in 7
Penguins/Capitals: Penguins in 6

So who do you guys think should win the Hart? The finalists are Ovechkin, Malkin, and Datsyuk.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I definitely want Malkin to win.

ROUND 2

WEST
#2 Detroit vs. #8 Anaheim - Anaheim in 7
#3 Vancouver vs. #4 Chicago -Chicago in 7

EAST
#1 Boston vs. #6 Carolina - Boston in 6
#2 Washington vs. #4 Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh in 7

ROUND 2

WEST
#2 Detroit vs. #8 Anaheim
#3 Vancouver vs. #4 Chicago

EAST
#1 Boston vs. #6 Carolina
#2 Washington vs. #4 Pittsburgh

Anaheim will pull off the upset. In 7 games.
Vancouver will take Chicago in 5.

Boston will be all over Carolina in 6.
The Pens will sneak by the Caps in 7.

I notice several people keep picking the Wings to lose. What, picking Columbus to win in the first round only to have the Wings annihilate them in four games wasn't enough of an embarrassment for you guys? I noticed that last year as well, a lot of people picking the Wings to lose in just about every round. How'd that work out? Maybe some of you guys should stick to predicting football. Wings in 5 over the Ducks.

My heart says Malkin, but because Ovechkin has made it to the second round, I'd say he has the edge...unless 'Geno' outplays Ovechkin in the upcoming series.

Picking the Wings to win is like picking Tiger Woods to win. It's too predictable, boring and unimaginative. I'd like the underdog to give the top dog a run for its money.
