Chicago takes home ice advantage away from the Sharks. I don't understand how SJ had 5 powerplays to Chicago's none, especially when it looked like there was a lot of grabbing and clutching when Chicago ramped the cycle up. It didn't matter because Chicago killed them all off after the first one.

pfffft... Lord knows I've done the same thing.

I'm just in awe that Philly could be on such a roll, both offensively and defensively. One thing I hadn't heard was how many shots on goal Boston and Montreal had during that stretch.

The Habs have taken 58 shots and Boston had 13 after their third goal, so that makes it 71 straight saves. Leighton's the last Flyers goalie to post consecutive shutouts in the playoffs since Bernie Parent in 1975!

There's something to be said for momentum. That and Gagne scoring. The Flyers are 4-0 when he scores a goal.

I thought the Sharks were going to be able to control the Hawks in front of the net, at least that's what the experts said. How many goals last night were deflections?

So did I. I hope they win tomorrow, but I doubt it. They're making Niemi a much better goal tender then he is, and it just feels like watching the team that lost to the Ducks last year.

If the Sharks lose out, I don't think they should blow up the team (Like I thought when they were in that awful slump at the end of the season) but I do think major changes need to be made. For one, I think Nabokov is done. Sure he did well in the first and second rounds, but I think it's time to move on. There's a Goalie in Montreal that might be looking to leave town and I wouldn't mind the sharks getting him. I also think it might be time to get rid of Thornton or Marleau, or both. This team is old, and they need to start thinking about the future long term. That, and the entire culture needs to change. Whether that starts at the top with Wilson I don't know, but the Sharks are stained with this reputation of being a bad playoff team and it is time to change that. If that means taking a few years to rebuild, than so be it.

Like I said, hope the Sharks win, but I don't expect them to win the series.

You really don't have a whole lot to choose from if you want to replace Nabby with a FA. Maybe Boston would take some offensive talent off your hands in exchange for unloading Thomas' contract.

I was thinking about Thomas too. In terms of offensive talent, I'm all for it. Anything to pretty much shake things up and I think with the Sharks it starts in Net.

As for my thoughts on the game, read the post from last night. Now that it's official, I'll just say once again I'm disappointed, but that's not news. It hasn't been news for what, 6 years now? As for the rest, the post above has my thoughts completely I think that doesn't need to be repeated.

I'd love to see Hossa complete an epic hat trick of Cup defeats, but I hate the Flyers to much too root for it.


Consider Hossa (temporarily) forgiven. Rooting for Philly to fail is too much fun to pass up on.

Best move that franchise could have made though. Not only is Yzerman already hockey smart, he's had the benefit of working with arguably one of the best front offices in the history of hockey for the past 4 years. His presence there also makes Tampa an attractive destination for free agents. I think they've got a pretty decent core and with a #1 goaltender (Carey Price maybe?) and some good offensive depth, they could be an Eastern powerhouse.

Well, I'm rooting for Philly. Chicago can suck my balls. Pretty cool to see Toews vs Richards though, sort of like the new age Yzerman vs Sakic.

6 teams starting the year in Europe-- Bruins, Canes, Sharks, Jackets, Wild, & Coyotes
