NHL Discussion - 2009-2010 Season

Forget the Coyotes. Sell the Maple Leafs to Balsille. Another loss, now tied for the official worst start in franchise history.

And on the other side of the spectrum: Marc-Andre Fleury: 7-0-0.

Gee, I'm so happy that Boston has Toronto's first round picks for the next two years. Way to rebuild Burke!

Hilarious that the team did better under JFJ/Maurice than under Burke/Wilson.

Who would have expected the Avalanche to be 6-1-1? Great comeback last night spurred by Cody McCleod  and Matt Duschene lit the lamp for the first of many NHL goals.

Craig Anderson appears to be playing like a #1 goalie.

I don't think it will last, but it's a fun start to the season. They've picked up points and wins in the road trip I thought would have Avs fans heading for the exits.

I'm starting to wonder about the Wild. With all the changes during the offseason I knew they might struggle a bit, but I didn't expect them to be 1-6-0 at this point.

...

And how long before Brian Burke get fired and takes Dave NOnuts with him?
and if Ron Wilson is the coach of the US hockey I highly dought they'll make the metal round.
we just might get a good chance at a gold metal on home soil in Vancouver after all.

I heard the Maple Leafs were playing dodgeball in practice last week.

Vesa Toskala won.
He's had plenty of practice every game.

I was rooting for Toronto to have a good season. They've been overdue. But now, I'm rooting for epic failure. If they're going to insist on sucking, then I want them to excel at sucking. I want to see the worst Maple Leafs record of all-time. I want to see the worst record in NHL history. (That'll be tough. The Caps' debut season set a hilariously high bar for sucking: 8-67-5)

Fleury is 8-0-0:
The Pens are #1 in the league: :cool:
...Aaaaand Gonchar is injured again: :brickwall::brickwall::brickwall:

You'd fit in on the Leafs message board.

I refuse to subscribe to the idea that since we aren't 8-0, Burke's first and ONLY summer so far as GM is a failure.

I don't know what the hell the problem is with this team. I expected them to be somewhat competitive this season. That's not the way it's starting to say the least. Fewest GF, most GA. Brutal.

Another OT loss for the Wings today. A point is nice, but the win would be better. This team keeps letting leads slip away late in games.

Kopitar finally gets his first hat trick. Yay! :)

He now has 16 points (8+8), just like Ovechkin (9+7).

^ Yeah I saw that hit the other day... man Toews probably felt like he got run over by a truck.

So this was a pretty sweet weekend from my perspective.

Both the Canucks and the Kings won two nights in a row. Luongo's playing and got his first shutout. And Kopitar is still kicking ass. He's now up to 21 points (10+11) in 12 games. Ovie has 17 (9+8) points, though he's only played 10 games.
