NHL 2010/2011 season....

Seeing Vancouver sweep Chicago would make me smile.

That settles it. If Vancouver sweeps tomorrow night, I'm going through this thread, making a list of everyone who has rooted for the Canucks in this series, and giving every last one of you a Patrick Kane avatar.

Don't think I won't do it.

So... because I'm a Canadian, naturally cheering for a Canadian team... hmm... I'll sue dammit! Discrimination. Intentional infliction of emotional something or other...

Well...I'm not rooting for Vancouver. :D

I'm Canadian and I was actually rooting for Chicago in the west. :D In the East...well, my avatar says it all.

Aaaand, Torres gets off scott-free. What a load of bull.
I find it interesting as no one really knows what to think about that hit, including the NHL.

I found Torres' hit on Eberle to be more suspendable than the one on Seabrook, for instance.

I saw something funny today, highlights from the '94 Nucks/Flames series - how many people in that series would have been suspended if they were playing like that today? There'd be no one left on the bench.

Kind of puts a damper on those idiots in the media who moan and complain about hockey being a goon sport these days. "Goonerism" is an exception, not the rule, in today's NHL.

ETA: Check out the highlights from the Stars/Nucks same year:

I forgot about that Bure elbow to Churla's head. Wow.

^ I guess I'll be getting my first suspension then.

Me too,

As for the Torres hit, if that had been a Chicago player hitting Kessler or one of the twins and nothing was done we'd be saying the same thing, but in Hockey you have to keep your head up.

I grew up in a house that hates Montreal, so bad during the '76 summit series we pulled for Russia (There I went there) Montreal was the biggest bully on the NHL block for so long.. and the Leafs were owned by Ballard that miserable old C***!.

Go Bruins Go
Go Canucks Go.

Monytreal came out flat in the first and let the game start to get away---bad move. But what really hurt was that Price giveaway when trying to clear the puck. If not for that they just might have reversed the whole game. Good thing they were up 2-0 in the series because now they still have an advantage.

As a Leafs fan, I loathe the Habs. Still, love to see a Vancouver-Montreal final. With Vancouver sweeping the Habs. Actually, that would be fantastic on two levels: An all Canadian cup final and... Montreal getting swept which would devastate Habs fans. :D

Even if the Habs don't go all the way there is the simple fact that they're contenders and have remained contenders for years including those years they missed the playoffs. That's something the Leafs haven't been able to do as consistently. The Leafs' last good real stab at it was about '92. Of course part of the bitterness of the Leafs not making it then is that we would have had a Habs/Leafs Stanley Cup final, something most everyone wanted. Now the best we can hope for is a conference series.

My dad gets so anxious watching Montreal because he can't stand seeing them make mistakes, but he also suffers from having lived through the glory years when they were more dominant. My view is more philosophical. Okay, they lost last night, but no one could expect the Bruins to just roll over. The real measure is getting back up, adjusting play and taking back control. The Habs are still up 2-1 in the series and if they can win Thursday night then Boston is in a bind of having to win three in a row.

Too bad about Chicago because they could be eliminated tonight.

Montreal woke up in the 2nd half of last night's game and took the game over. If Montreal plays like they did in the 2nd half the rest of the way, they will win.

Nothing like hearing Quenneville whining about dirty play and poor officiating. It's how you have that Cup ring, you jack-a-ninny.

Wow. Chicago didn't like the idea of being swept. They're taking it to Vancouver. It's 6-1 half way through the third. I still don't see Chicago taking this, especially being down 3-1 after tonight but they certainly said no to 4-0.

Phoenix on the other hand... can they take a game from Detroit or will it be their last in Phoenix. I know what the fans in Winnipeg are hoping. It'd be poetic in a way. According to TSN, the Jets' last game in Winnipeg was a loss against Detroit in the playoffs. 15 years later, a loss to Detroit in the playoffs could send them back home.

Oh, and apparently the NHL now has a 10 year TV deal with NBC. Hockey is still behind even college sports in the US last I heard but... *shrugs*

Kings are off to a good start tonight, here's to hoping they can keep the momentum going.

Wow, what a jaw-dropping turn around! The Kings lead 4-0 after one period. Now, the Sharks have tied it up 5-5 after 2.

It's almost like I had this night planned perfectly. The Sharks looked awful to the point where I decided to watch Glee tonight, and then after that I turned back to the game and they were starting their comeback and we have a brand new game. Should be a very exciting 3rd period.

Fucking Canucks didn't even show up to night. :brickwall:
I don't understand why when a goalies lets in that many goals you don't pull him, especially when he lets in two on two shots. Alain Vigneault was on something tonight that was a bone head move.
But I have faith the Canucks will finish them off on Thursday.

Yeah every once in a while the team has a game where they just don't show up to play. I'm not worried though, I have a feeling the players are gonna have a very productive "meeting" before game five. ;)

Wow what an epic comeback that was.

Down 3-0, I turn the game off and go watch Glee, find out it's down 4-0 in the second and start to be thankful I watched Glee tonight and then I got to see the Sharks give one of the greatest comebacks I've seen watching Hockey in the playoffs. First you had Pavelski's goal to tie it up, and then Setoguchi with the game winner in overtime and this game completely negates the awfulness that was Game 2. We've got ourselves a series of epicness in the Golden State and it's damn good. :techman:

The really odd thing was that Luongo seemed to be fighting an injury. The guys on Versus thought that it was Luongo who finally pulled himself from the game, not Vigneault.
