NFL Talk - 2010-11 Season

I'm just getting into the NFL mindset. I've only kept a perhipheral view of the Titans preseason(2-2). Preseason means as much to me as college bowl games, which is zip. They mean nothing and only stand to get players hurt cause you aren't playing for anything unless your that 4th QB or 7th Receiver. Watching those guys duke it out in a glorified practice doesn't get me watching.

That said my Titans look to be a middle of the pack team. It's very possible we could start 1-3 or at best 2-2. I see some tough games out of the gate. It's hard to look at schedule right now and count more than 8-9 games we have a better than average chance of winning. I guess the Steelers already got their revenge on us for that towel stomping but game 2 vs them will still be a pounding event I'd guess.

My early call is 9-7 for the year, get a wildcard berth to the playoffs.

FOOTBALL!!

FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:techman:

I DID NOT want to draft Favre in one of my fantasy leagues but I guessed wrong that QBs would last through the first few rounds. I hope this is not a sign of things to come. Or else one of the brand new starting QBs better have a breakout year.

Favre was bloody awful. I think he might have hit the wall. Granted, he played poorly in the first game last year as well, but that was against the Browns.

The loss falls solely on Chilly. Peterson dominated the first half, and he got all of four touches the entire second. Payton made half time adjustments that completely had him fooled.

The defense held the Saints (The Saints!) to 14 points and they still couldn't find a way to win. All they needed to do was manage two field goals the entire second half, and couldn't even do that.

Despicable.

That was a terrible football game last night. Maybe it was week one jitters, but isn't that what the preseason is for. Of course my mind wasn't really on sports last night given the tragedy 15 minutes north of where I live so it might have been just me.

I couldn't believe how many flags the Vikings' offensive line had thrown on them. Good Lord.

I also have to imagine that Sidney Rice's decision to delay his surgery is grating even more on Childress, Favre and company. Shiancoe's a tight end, not a primary wide receiver.

Not a very exciting start to the season. Favre looked a bit off. Seemed like he didn't trust his wide receivers and kept looking for Shiancoe instead. Kind of understandable, given what the Vikes have a WR right now. I was surprised how well the Saints ran the ball up the middle in the second half. They must have found a weak spot there.

Glad the Vikes lost. Maybe now the local media will tone down the hype and get back to covering the Twins.

Favre and Harvin were clearly having some pretty severe timing issues, and they need to figure that out pronto. If Favre won't trust that Harvin's going to be there to catch the balls that are thrown to him, that's going to mean more passes fed to Shiancoe ... and we all saw how that turned out last night.

No, the mistake was trying to put Harvin wide. That's just not what he does.

The problem is, the one guy they traded for is also pretty much a slot-only guy. Really not great planing by the management.

And with only four WRs on the team, they need to pick someone up ASAP. The popular choice is make a deal for V. Jack, but he won't be eligible to play until a week or two before Rice comes back.

Looking forward to seeing what we can do against Arizona tomorrow. I think we may have a chance to steal one at home here. Sounds like Wells is out, and I am not really sure about Anderson. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out in our quest for 5-11.

BTW: I was remembering this quote from our good friend JM1776 after the last Rams/Cardinals game, and was able to find it through a search...

There sure is a precipitous drop off from Warner to Leinart.

I'm not worried about Leinart at all. When Warner retires, he'll step in and lead them competently.

What a difference nine months makes.

I hope you're not speculating in the stock market!!

:p

The Rams might have a chance. I hear that Wells might be out too, so the QB situation is iffy, and the RB situation is probably not as good.

As for the niners, I am nervous as heck. Everyone is saying the Niners will crush seattle, but that loud fanbase is daunting and I just have a sneaking feeling it will be a lot closer than people think. That, and it seems like there is so much unneeded pressure put on this team that I just don't feel as confident as others seem to.

I'll be curious to see what Seattle is like under Carroll. It's tough to win division games on the road, but I think the Niners are the team to beat in the NFC West this year.

Even if the 49ers lose this game, it won't mean much.

Substitute the logo of your favorite team. The sentiment is the same.

Game on!

Happy Week One Everybody. May all your hopes survive the week and your fantasy teams don't have any major injuries like 2 years ago when Tom Brady went down and missed the season.

Go Niners!

We're about forty minutes away from the televised murder of Jay Cutler. :(

I love my young son, and I love watching football but I hate watching football with him, only because of those boner pill commercials.
"Hey dad, the commercial said you should talk to your doctor. What's an erection?"
