BTW, what happened with the Ravens? I was following online and they appeared to be in fieldgoal range. Next thing I know, the game is over.

It would've been a long field goal into the wind (49 or 50 yards IIRC) so they went for the first down instead.

Polamalu forced a fumble. They got the ball back but Flacco short-hopped it on 4th down; it was catchable with a dive, but it probably would still have come up short. He did not respond especially well to pressure all night, including the last drive.

So I was at the Raider-Charger game today. Ahh, that game was awesome. :D The Chargers just couldn't play worth a damn today, which is fine by me, really. ;)

I hate, hate, hate the Raiders and I think Rivers is a prick.

Well this is something a Broncos fan and a Chiefs fan can agree on.

Going into the games yesterday, I thought the Division would be won by SD, and it still might be. But at least now I'm more hopeful the Chiefs might actually pull it off. I don't think SD loses two in a row, so I kind of think the Chiefs will get their asses kicked next week in SD. So the loss by SD yesterday was HUGE.

In any event, if the Chiefs do pull off winning the division, I think they'll be "one and done" in the playoffs. While they are an improved team, they're still "not ready for primetime" IMHO.

Either way, division winners or not, compared to the shit of the last several seasons, it's been a hellava ride this year.

If one were to look up the term "ugly win" in the dictionary, I'm quite sure it would say "See KC vs Den 12/5/10 for example." Good lord, happy for the win, but God that was awful. And every time I think I've seen the worst officiating I could see, another game comes along to prove me wrong. And incidentally I mean that both ways, the Chiefs got jobbed several times on calls, but so did the Broncos.

Meanwhile I'm still in a state of shock as Oakland hammers the Chargers and the Chiefs have a 2 game lead in the AFC West with 4 games to play.

I'm still wondering how the Chiefs can fail to pound a mostly useless Denver into the ground. Yeah a W is a W but, sheesh. It shouldn't have been this hard.

Well the Chiefs shouldn't have gotten spanked like they did in Denver either, but shit happens. I don't know if they'll hang on to win the division or not, (The Rams game scares the shit of me), but if they do, they are going to get so destroyed going up against the likes of Baltimore, NE, Pitts, Jets, etc in the playoffs.

I don't know if we should be scaring the shit out of anyone yet, but I am thinking at home we can win that game.

With a big hill to climb next week at New Orleans, it's most likely the Rams will go into their final three games 6-7. 2 home games we have a good shot at winning, followed by a final showdown with Seattle, most likely for the NFC West crown (such as it is!).

Even if we somehow get into the playoffs, I doubt we'd go far. The Falcons, Packers, and Saints are all out of our league...for the time being...

I'd like to see us make the playoffs. Getting the home-field advantage would be a nice plus in that too, but right now seeing the post-season would be fine for me as it's been quite sometime since we managed to do that. If we lose in the play-offs no big loss we made it and that'll be enough.

But damn do they need to smarten the fuck up. Because, once again, in a game where the opposing team is holding you down pretty good Haley forgoes a sure-thing in a FG and goes for it on a short 4th and Goal. Just kick the FG and get three more on the board, Haley!

I see the upcoming Chiefs @ SD game as being a game that the Chiefs could make a statement about themselves. They've yet to prove they can go on the road and beat a tough AFC opponent. Winning in SD would be HUGE for them but I'm not confident they can do it.

And basically if they don't beat the Chargers on Sunday, then they're pretty much in the playoffs starting immediately with the Rams. It's not exactly the same since they'll still have games to play, but if they lose the Chargers next week, they'll probably need to win out to get to the post season.

Now if they beat the Chargers (not likely IMHO) and the Raiders would happen to lose to Jacksonville (more possible IMHO), then the Chiefs are sitting pretty with only having to win 1 game to win the division. Hell Oakland could even end up sweeping the division but not win the division in that scenario.

R.I.P. Don Meredith.

Indeed. To me, Monday Night Football has never been the same since the team of Meredith, Cosell, and Gifford left the booth.

Falcons and Patriots in the super bowl. You heard it here first (maybe).

"Heard it here first" is a stretch, given that they're the oddsmaker's favorites at the moment.

Betfair's current probabilities of the following teams winning the Super Bowl (top 8 teams listed only):

New England 14%
Atlanta 13%
Pittsburgh 12%
Green Bay 10%
NY Jets 9%
New Orleans 9%
Philadelphia 9%
Baltimore 7%

Obviously, if the Jets win the Monday night game, these will change drastically.

Pat Bowlen just fired Josh McDaniels, giving Denver fans an early Christmas present!!!!

BYE BYE McHoodie, you were the worst coach in our 50 year history. Now, please leave our city.

Yeah, that guy needed to go. Cutler looks like a genius.

So...if I had told everyone in August that by week 14, The Rams would have the same record as the Colts, and a better record than the Vikings, what would you have said???

Or how about both MO teams would be atop their respective divisions by week 14?

Going into the season I didn't have ANY expectations of anything good, and now, if the Chiefs don't make it, I'll be crushed.

Josh McDaniels was just way too young. He wasn't experienced enough yet, especially not enough to both be the head coach and have control over personnel decisions.
