NFL MVP...Wow, Imagine Who Got Picked.

Well, it looks like the AP went with the safe choice this year in picking an NFL Most Valuable Player. Tom Brady wins UNANIMOUSLY? Wow, guys. Not even one of you dared to deviate from the NFL party line?

And yeah, he didn't play 16 games, but if you measured by number of games played, Brady and Vick would have to lose out to players that played more games. Because the precious Pats lost early, thankfully.

New England had no business winning as many games as they did with the lack of talent they had. They had no running back, no deep threat at receiver. Average defense, yet they won the most games in the regular season. Gotta give them credit.

Good luck trying to find any sympathy for Vick on this board. He's served his time, he's trying to make amends, but people would rather crucify him for the past.

As for Brady, I'm surprised there wasn't a stray vote. Sure New England's talent wasn't what it used to be, but it's Tom Brady. Give him a one legged running back and two blind receivers and he'll still win.

Brady does know how to win but he didn't make it to the Super Bowl! Shouldn't the MVP award go to a guy who has actually taken his team to the big game? Brady is good, but I would submit that Aaron Rodgers took a team, where half of them were on IR beginning in week 6, and carried them right into the biggest game of the year. AND he WON the darn thing!! Brady, both Mannings, Vick, Roethlesberger and everyone else tried to do what Rodgers did and none succeeded. I'm not even a huge Rodgers fan and I can see that he deserved the NFL MVP more than Tom Brady did. Although Brady does have nice hair and a hot wife! Jus' Sayin'

Is the OP really trying to say that there was honestly another person who should have won it? Vick...please. How can you honestly argue that Michael Vick was a better player, or more valuable to his team then Brady was this year? Brady won cause he deserved to win, he was far and away the best player in the NFL this year, and won 14 games on a team that decided change it's entire offensive scheme a quarter into the season.

As for voting for someone like Rodgers, yes he won the Superbowl, and I'm sure Brady would trade in his MVP for a ring in a second, but in almost all sports, the MVP voting has nothing to do with post season performance.

If we're talking Most Valuable Player? Michael Vick. But no one is going to vote for him. Too soon.

He also trailed off in the second half of the season. I'm an Eagles fan and even I felt that he wasn't going to win looking at the last several weeks. He won Comeback Player of the Year, which he clearly deserved (and I think he should have won Most Improved Player), but I wouldn't go as far as MVP (even if I don't want Brady to win).

Tom Brady
111.0 QB Rating
65.9 Pass completion
3,900 Yards passing
36 Touchdowns
4 Interceptions

ALL Better than Vick

Yeah, those stats are the answer. None were beaten by Vick, so it's not a popularity contest, Brady was just better than Vick by just about every possible metric.

As for the 'big game' comment? This is a regular-season award, and has to be voted on before the post season starts. And think the Patriots had just as many starters on IR as the Packers did, give or take. Learn about the topic you're discussing...

Yeah, I'll point out Vick did win awards, so his past didn't hurt him in that regard.

Vick missed several games and tailed off late in the season an the hits piled up and defenses adjusted their schemes.

The Pats consistently racked up 30+ point games with a running game that consisted of two undrafted guys, one from DII, the other with 4-names. The passing game changed on the fly after the Moss trade and consisted of two rookie TEs, two undersized WRs, one coming off a major injury, and no big threat option. Throw in an OL that missed key starters for long stretched to boot. His numbers were amazing, and they needed to be to cover up a young, shaky defense.

He was by far the most valuable all season.

And to reiterate to the OP, it's a regular season award.

Brady winning the MVP is a no brainer. Bringing up "Vick didn't win because he killed dogs" is complete horseshit, Brady was better than Vick in every statisical category outside of rushing. Brady had pedestrian receivers while Vick was throwing to Jackson, Maclin and McCoy. Speaking of McCoy, who's a stud, the Pats had a very medicore running game allowing defenses to play more honest against the pass, and they still got burned.

Pats: 14-2
Eagles: 10-6 (and could have been 9-7 were it not for Jackson's miracle punt return against the Giants).

Any Vick for MVP talk is complete homer fantasy BS.

If we're talking Most Valuable Player? Michael Vick. But no one is going to vote for him. Too soon.

He wasn't consistently good, and he got hurt too often. He also happens to be a loser, but that's besides the point. Brady threw 4 interceptions in a full season, that's practically unheard of.

^^ I don't think Vick should have been MVP. I just think people should realize that he has done his time and is working with animal groups to try and make some good out of it.

It's the same thing saying Roethlisberger is a rapist. He's innocent until proven guilty and I find it hard to believe that stardom saved him from getting charged. Do we really think our cops are that stupid and starstruck?

Without Brady, the Patriots don't make the playoffs, and probably don't finish the season with a winning record. Without Vick, the Eagles would have still had a very good shot at the postseason and a winning record.
