NFL: Here's rooting for the Lions to finish 0-16. And why>

Hey, I for one have never, ever, ever believed in the Lions.
Understandable. It's probably better to save those stories for telling around the campfire, where the atmosphere is truly spooky and ubelievable.

It's one of the best way to scare young children around here. Tell them stories about the Lions being good.

It's so far out of line with reality that it gives the poor kids nightmares. They hear those stories and look at the world around them and it just doesn't add up.

Heh, heh - not a chance. Pack fans might be frustrated with their team after this disappointing year, but really - look at your last 50 years of football and compare it to the Lions' last 50 years. There is no team that can be counted on to screw things up more than the Lions. Lions fans' expectations are ALWAYS massive disappointment.

Well, now I've lived through both the Dolphins undefeated season and this. I think I've seen it all. Hopefully something good will come from this debacle because even Lions fans don't deserve a season this awful.

To be fair, the Packers' defensive staff could not conceive the idea that Orlovsky was simply going to throw to Megatron every chance that he had. (It's a philosophy utterly opposite that of Daunte Culpepper, whose mindset was "THROW TO =/= JOHNSON").

The irony here is that Rod Marinelli will not be fired. Mark my words.

So after all of this the Lions only fire Marinelli and four assistant coaches. Everyone else gets to stay.

Not exactly the sweeping change I wanted to see.

That seems to be quite a bit at least to us uninitiated. What other changes were you expecting? Bear in mind I am not in the least familiar with the Lions front office.

Well aside from Millen's firing there have been no changes to the front office. Aside from Millen and those five coaches, the entire organization is still there.

And in order to go 0-16 it takes a bad organization, not just a bad GM and a few bad coaches. The Lions need a serious overhaul. Where's Bill Cowher when you need him?

There is all manner of speculation about Parcells possibly opting out in Miami. Apparently, there's a 30-day window. Maybe that would be a good fit. Of course, he'd have to be given authority to clean house, the way he did in Miami.

There ought to be a clause in the owners' agreements with the NFL that if their team performs at 2-14 or worse in a season, they give up all decision-making rights regarding the team. The Lions and Cardinals could both use different owners, and so could a few other teams, I'm sure.

I would love to see Parcells come through and clean house in Detroit. Sadly, I don't really see it ever happening.

As to the latter, that's NEVER gonna happen. The Bidwills are firmly entrenched in ownership, and the fact that Arizona will be a solid franchise for some years to come only solidifies their position.

Eh, I'm not believing that the Cards have arrived until they win a playoff game.

Someone had to make the playoffs in that division this year, and the Cards were the least sucky team. I wouldn't say that they're solid until they string something together. Lest they be like Cleveland this year...
