NFL Discussion - 2008-09 Playoffs

Good job Refs, you just gave the Chargers the game.
Bullshit holding call. Shoulda been fourth down.

Son of a bitch. I guess I need to wait until 2pm tomorrow to find out if I'm going to be a Titans fan or a Steelers fan next week. Stupid Chargers.

Sweet Caroline, duh duh duh...
Seeing as my team's out, my only wish this postseason was to see the Colts lose, so I'm a happy camper.
Now any discussions about a Manning vs. Manning superbowl are moot.
Here's hoping San Diego loses the next game, so the Pats 2nd round pick they acquired from the Chargers doesn't go too high.

Good game.

It was clearly holding. The Colts defense just gave the Chargers the game. :guffaw:

Not even close in any other game, that was only a holding call to make up for Hochuli.

Way to go refs. Congrats Chargers, maybe they'll give you Tennessee too.

Fear not, judging by past history, Polian and crew are probably foaming at the mouth now and will make sure their feelings are known to the league offices tomorrow.

Who knows, with Polian's involvement in the Competition Committee, some rules might even be adjusted to ensure this never happens again. :)

I think Arizona won the game on the line of scrimmage today. Solid running game, kept time of possession in their favor, and they protected Warner. On defense, they stiffled Turner and pressured Ryan into a lot of weak throws.

Nicely done.

They did play well, and are clearly the better team.

I question the Cardinals' tactics, though. Edge was quite effective throughout, and yet he was underutilized and basically abandoned for quite some time to emphasize a passing game that was inconsistent, though explosive.

If the Cards mix it up a bit more, they blow Atlanta out instead of simply dominating.

Ravens just intercepted Pennington for the third time. In seven pass attempts.

And now with a forced fumble recovery, the Dolphins have more than half their season total for give-aways. :techman:

Oops, there's another!

I thought we were gonna win, but I certainly didn't think we were going to make them look like such chumps! :)

I was really surprised by how empty the stands were after half-time. We weren't up by THAT much.

I imagine that Tennessee will be much more of a nail-biter.

Well, Miami isn't exactly known for being very tenacious fans. I mean, it was big news that they sold it out in a day. The people left were probably all from Baltimore.

And yes, next week may be a bit more difficult. Though, if Flacco sticks to his season pattern, he's due for a big passing game after this one. ;)

ETA: Joe Flacco, the first rookie QB ever to win a road playoff game.

He came back in after that. He'll play, and he'll play well. No question. Or, as Ray Lewis would say, "bottom line". ;)

Iggles dispatch the Vikings and will play the G-Men next weekend.

The game was making me nervous, even though the Birds led almost the entire game. It was only after Westbrook broke that screen pass for a touchdown that I started to feel comfortable.

An NFC East playoff matchup... gonna be great!

Quite the games this weekend.

I got half right and half wrong.

Congrats to Arizona and Warner. I like seeing these battered experienced vets still performing well. I picked that one.

The Chargers played the game they needed to in order to win. I do believe that outside Sproles that the most important person on the SD sideline was the defensive coordinator. Him orchestrating not getting into a coverage until inside the 10sec mark was genius. I think the Colts defense lost this game to the aformentioned Sproles. Their inability to stop him helped keep SD firmly in the game. Manning performed well and did everything he could to make things happen. I missed this pick.

The Ravens "D" made Pennington look like a fresh faced back-up playing his first ever game, let alone a playoff one. I really expected more out of Chad. I missed this pick.

Way to go Philly!! While McNabb isn't even in my top 5 of favorite QBs I've always thought he got treated too harshly. Outside of Petersen the Vikings just didn't impress me this year. I picked this one.

So my Tennessee Titans will now play the Baltimore Ravens. We used to be in the same division. We had a gut wrenching game with them earlier this year. We are rested and should be nearly 100% healthy come Saturday. My two concerns are this going into the game.
1- We mostly coasted in December either due to games not mattering or some injuries. Can we flip the switch and be that team that was playing in the middle stretch of the season?
2- The Ravens had such an easy go at it Saturday that they suffered no setbacks and are for the most part fresh and now with a win playoff confident.

Obviously I pick my Titans but still wanted to state my objective concerns.

As a Giants fan. the last team I wanted to play was the Eagles. These teams always play each other tough and the Giants won't have any cold weather edge like they would have had against Arizona. I'll be hoping for the best, but an Eagles victory wouldn't surprise me in the least.
