NFL 2020 Season: We're gonna bite a kneecap off

Cowboys hire Dan Quinn as defensive coordinator. I guess they must have been hiding in a cave for the last three years and not seen the Falcons defense?

Firing your OC after your offense just enjoyed a record-setting season is not a great look. I suspect he was let go because Pete Carroll is still stuck in the Stone Age and wants to emphasize the running game despite his QB being Russell freaking Wilson, while Schottenheimer disagreed.

I'm not aware of any records that the Seahawks set this year, and you can't look at the number in the aggregate. The vast amount of their scoring was done early in the season, and then later against ... the Jets. Compared to other teams, Seattle was 8th in scoring offense. Then Wilson got injured and got the yips, and everything went to shit. Look at their game-by-game scoring; Schottenheimer clearly didn't adjust the schemes at all when teams were able to actively gameplan against Wilson instead of Wilson just being able to hit his god mode button.

I'm not sure dropping Brian Schottenheimer is a terrible loss anyway. This is the guy who, legendarily, lined up five receivers on a 4th and 3 and the call was for them all to run curl routes short of the first down marker:

Looks more like a 4th and 6, but your point still stands. :p

I'm surprised that we haven't heard Bill O'Brien's name mentioned during this year's coaching carousel. Did he decide to sit out a year, or is he considered toxic by GM's after running Rick Smith out of the building in Houston?

I would guess that after the absolute disaster in Houston, as well as the tire fire that was Matt Patricia in Detroit, teams are steering clear of Patriots assistants for a little while. Anyway, O'Brien is replacing Sarkisian as the offensive coordinator at Alabama.
