NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? What?

I'd think so. He's not copying and reselling, not charging to watch, I'd think you could resell your copy to someone. NFL made something like 13 Billion last year, really couldn't come up with 1M for the only known copy of the first Superbowl? Or even counter with 500k and let the guy feel like he won? Not even a rounding error. They spent how many million chasing Deflategate so far this year? Ted Wells alone was 5M or so, wasn't he? Lots more in legal fees after that, i think I've seen that they're into it for 20M so far.

The NFL's actions in the above case are baffling and in my opinion, petulant. For a league that trumpets it's history and the legacy of the Super Bowl, spending any amount of money on the only known of the first Super Bowl is a no-brainer.

I've made fun of him in the past, but Johnny Manziel is not all right: http://www.wfaa.com/sports/johnny-manziel-threatened-ex-girlfriend/32613842

The ex-girlfriend of NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel told police that the Heisman Trophy winner told her "shut up or I'll kill us both" after forcing her into a car, hitting her, and dragging her by the hair.

His agent also fired him.

Dude's family needs to get him on a 72-hour involuntary hold. (As should anyone if they have a family member acting this erratically.)

Even Manziel's father is worried he won't make it to 24.

Yeah, he needs to get his life in order and stop yapping about how great his career is going to be. At this point he has no career.

That's the thing about Manziel, in that he isn't even yapping about his career anymore, he's simply gone off the rails for whatever reason or reasons -- pride, depression, something else. I really fear we're watching someone self-destruct in front of our eyes and it's just impossible for me to overstate how much I hope he gets some help ... and that he has the willingness to accept it.

Despite wanting to see Manning get one more Ring, I'm rooting for Carolina. They deserve it more, considering going 15-1 in the regular season.

Yep, gotta say I was wrong on that one. Denver's D just owned the night, and Carolina didn't have it in them. Newton not diving on his own fumble kinda said what he's made of and his desire to win, no? Preening Superman when things are going well, but turtled pretty quickly in this one.

Manning was pretty terrible, but didn't cost them anything. Hopefully Von Miller gets the MVP in a minute; it would be pretty annoying to give it to Manning as a retirement present...

Goodell was a bit of a bumbling boob up there with the trophy. I know this is probably Peyton's last show, but If anyone needs to retire from the NFL it's him.

Eh, want that to be the story, but neither QB covered themselves in glory, and were about statistically the same.

Newton: 18/41, 265 yds, 0 TD, 1 INT, 6 sacks, 55.4 rating (plus 45 yards rushing)
Manning: 13/23, 141 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT, 5 sacks, 56.6 rating

Both had 2 fumbles as well, Manning recovered one of his.

Good game if you like defensive games, pretty terrible otherwise. No one got anything going, and most of the points came on dumb mistakes instead of good plays. Nice story for Manning to go out on top, but that just means he got a ring, not that there was some moment where he dug deep and looked 25 again. Defense was the story of the game, Von Miller was a beast!

I giggled and wasn't surprised, but kind of disappointed at the booing tbh. Whatever you might think of any individual players - and I'm definitely a hater - that was pretty cool of the NFL bringing all those Superbowl MVPs together. That moment deserved applause.

I enjoyed the game itself, though it was obviously far from pretty - an old-fashioned slugfest and my god the Broncos defense is monstrous. Tons of credit to the Panthers defense too, because if not for Von Doom going 2-0 against Superman it would've been even tighter.

So happy for Peyton getting his second ring, and now hopefully he retires on a high note, going out like Elway. Now he can focus on teaming up with Carrie Underwood, Mike Fisher, and Justin Timberlake to buy the Titans.

^^^ Agreed on all fronts, although I'm kind of simultaneously chuckling and scratching my head at Eli's less-than-enthusiastic reaction to his brother's victory. He says that he's happy for Peyton, bit he had a look on his face like he just swallowed a raw Brussels-sprout covered in cat poop. Did he think he had exclusive right to be the only double-ring holder in the family or something? WTF was up with that?

Congrats to Manning and the Broncos. I had a feeling that the Panthers would not be up to the moment. There was a story Saturday about manning making an emotional speech to the team in one of their last meetings. So you just knew that they looked at this game as a MUST HAVE, where the Panthers were happy just to be there. One of those games that showed that even though a team can appear to be overmatched, desire can make all the different in the world.

As for Cam Newton, he is young and still learning. I remember that SB loss where Peyton stalked off the field without speaking to anyone. He got a pass as I recall. But Cam also needs to realize that the this is the NFL and there is parity which means he may never see another SB, which also means that he had better keep his head down and keep working his ass off. As for his personality, I don't think he needs to change a thing. Just realize that the longer it takes to "close the deal", the more everything about him will be scrutinized.

So, with 2 SB's now, I would certainly put Manning in the same class as Montana, Bradshaw, Staubach, Starr, Brady, etc. I mean the elite of the elite.
