NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? What?

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

Brutal game in Dallas for the Seahawks. Glad they gutted out the win after all.

Thoughts and prayers with Ricardo Lockette. Prognosis sounds good right now, but concussions aren't something to mess with. Glad they're being cautious and he's staying under medical supervision overnight in Dallas. That was scary seeing him laying on the ground not moving for so long.

Agreed. And wow... we all knew Hill wouldn't get that touchdown, but boy was that ever funny! He just trots to the endzone and then they called it a touchdown! LOL!

So what is wrong with Colin Kaepernick?

Not doubt the Niners are depleted (heck they were down to a practice squad running back by the 3rd quarter yesterday), but he just doesn't look right.

I seem to remember him being so much faster, quicker with decisions, almost impossible to sack. Watching the Rams game yesterday it was like he had cement shoes, or mono, or something. The offensive line is nothing to write home about, and Bouldin didn't play yesterday either, so there are other factors to be sure.

Still, it seems a precipitous drop from the recent past.

Not that I'm complaining. The St. Louis defense is pretty solid.

:techman:

GO RAMS!!!

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

I'm rooting for an AFC championship game between the Patriots and the Bengals ending with Brady and Dalton exchanging handshakes plus a hug, and whispering something in their ears with them chuckling-something we will never know what about.

It's a bucket list item of mine to see the Red Sox and the Reds play each other in the World Series. This would be the next best thing.

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

My hopes for the Raiders this season was to go at least 8-8. So far, we are on track to make that goal. But if we somehow manage to beat Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh this Sunday, my hopes may become unreasonable.

Gotta give Reggie McKenzie credit for putting the team squarely on the path back to respectability, and eventually, more. :)

Man... Ricardo Lockette is out for the rest of the season. Watching him go down yesterday... that was scary.

The Niners have some management issues and the ship isn't going to right itself under their watch. I can hardly stand to watch this season.

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

gotta be one of the quicker turnarounds from Contender on the way up to Dumpster Fire. Couple years back, 49ers were the team on the rise, Kap was going to be one of the top QBs ever, etc. Has completely disintegrated in a very short time there, kinda shocking.

Hopefully they don't pull a Raiders and go from playoff team to 'which team is that again?'. Talk about completely disappearing as a franchise! Tuck Rule set them back 15 years (so far, not done yet) at least, still haven't bounced back...

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

The main difference for the 49ers is that Harbaugh left. You don't suppose.......?

He and RG III seem to be ride-sharing their careers...such as they are.

... That Harbaugh leaving was the result of the same negative atmosphere and personalities that are currently driving the team into the ground?

Yeah, that seems likely.

We'll see if you're man enough to even broach this subject again (much less admit you were wrong) if this statement comes back to bite you in the ass. From what I've seen, I'm not expecting it to happen. :p

Yeah, that seems likely.

I was hinting more in the direction of Harbaugh being a good HC and responsible for a lot of wins.

But you have a good point too.

Other than being a half-assed swipe at me, what is this even supposed to mean? How could me saying that the Raiders have been an embarrassment for the past 15 years possibly bite me in the ass? Past tense, it happened. If the Raiders pull out of the tailspin this year, how's that hurt me or make the recent history wrong? Can you really deny that Raiders went from Superbowl contender to dumpster fire without even a gradual collapse? They lost the Tuck Rule game, made it back to the Superbowl the following year (lost), and haven't had a winning season in 12 years after that. 2 8-8 seasons have been the high water mark. Kinda seems like I didn't mis-speak.

Given how shitty the NFL is this year (seriously, like a handfull of good teams and then just garbage), having another non-dismal team in the league would be a good thing, not a bad one. Only 12 teams with even a winning record at this point, several of those of the 4-3 variety (Raiders included). Colts winning their division at 3-5, and the 1-6 Titans are ONE game out in the loss column. Bang up job, guys! Raiders currently have 4-3 record, so at least there's a chance. Don't see them beating the Broncos unless the defense lets go or Peyton finishes his collapse, so they are scrapping with the Steelers and Jets probably for a playoff berth right now. If it ended today, and they had a tiebreaker over the Jets, they'd have to beat the Bengals or Colts. Don't see the Bengals, but the Colts are another team that seems to have, uh, deflated after a playoff loss. They've got the parts to be dangerous, but are just falling apart. Maybe that's the road, but then gotta play Broncos or Pats (per today's standings). I just don't see it. You never know, I suppose, any given sunday and all that. The AFC just seems like such a strong case of Pats, Broncos, and then everyone else at this point. Even the 7-0 Bengals looked like shit the other night and I don't think are in the same class as the other two...

I set the part of your post that I was specifically addressing in bold text. The Raiders went to a Super Bowl after the Tuck Rule game so that alone hardly set the franchise back 15 years. What started the team on the downward spiral was losing Rich Gannon to a neck injury.

Only a hater would not be able to see that the Raiders are on the way back this season. No one is putting them in the SB yet. I'm not even predicting playoffs, but they are definitely on the right path. Haters gonna hate though, right?

And speaking of a "half-assed swipe", so what did you think, that your mentioning the Tuck Rule game would get me foaming at the mouth? That game is ancient history and as I said, we went to the SB after that game. And try to keep this in mind going forward, I was never angry at the Patriots in that game. It was the officials that drew my ire. Your Pats just happened to be the team the Raiders were playing at the time and benefitted from a screwy call. Could have been any team in the league.

One last thing; I didn't think my "swipe" was half assed at all. ;)

No. It was intended to highlight a specific point in time. And i mentioned the superbowl appearance the following year (had completely forgotten that at first, but said it pretty clearly when I readdressed it). That seemed to be the time period when the Raiders went from formidable team and contender to their current state, I'd just glossed over in my mind that there was one more year of good play first. My bad. Not sure it overly affects my point, though. They're 4-3 thus far, we'll see how that pans out. They certainly look a little better, but they've hit as high as 8-8 since then superbowl (twice), so still long way to go to get back on the winning season run.

Ok, it certainly makes things easier when you just admit it was trolling, saves a lot of effort. Thanks! :techman:

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

Good news, there's now concern that maybe the Patriots are cheating at the coin toss somehow, as they've won at an almost impossible clip (19-6 in last 25 flips). Of course, ignores that half the time, the opponent gets to call the coin, but hey, radio frequencies controlling their thoughts, rigged coins, gotta be something, right? :guffaw:

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on...-probability-win-coin-flip-at-impossible-clip

Assume it's gotta be tongue in cheek, but still entertaining that someone's thinking about it...
