God, the Redskins looked terrible last night.

Thought they were on the upswing. :(

^^^ Most definitely.

I really should make this my new avatar. I think I will this weekend.

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

I work with MANY Redskins fans... they haven't been happy campers the last few years... That said, their "D" isn't that bad and I think Cousins can grow into the role.

It's a shame that RG"me" turned out the way he did. He ended up being a running quarterback that was scared to run after his injury.

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

The Redskins special teams and the mental errors is what sunk them, yet again.

How do you allow a free runner through your punt line two times in a row?

Bad penalties, poor clock management. Very, very sloppy. The defense looked good, though - which in the NFL means there is hope.

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

A lot of injuries on the defensive side last night, though. Very scary stuff. Between the frequent injuries and even more absurdly frequent penalties (although the Giants seemed to get almost as many of those), there was really no hope to acquire any kind of real momentum.

However, I was quite happy to see that Cousins had quite a reasonable amount of time (at least, in the first half) to sit in the pocket and try to find somewhere to throw the ball. All too often in previous seasons, the O-line looked like it was made out of tissue paper. He also has an amazing poise and calm about him that RG3 never had. I honestly don't think I've ever seen him get that emotional. It's been that way in weeks 1 and 2, as well. There are many things that are considerably better this season than have been since 2012.

I'm kind of torn...I have no love for RG3 myself, either, but he should have at least been given more than 1.5 seconds per snap to allow his receivers to scramble into their routs. Between the perception of unfounded arrogance, the lack of experience and available pocket time, resulting in panic and Fran Tarkenton-like directionless running are what really sunk Griffin in the end but he cannot be blamed for all of it by any stretch.

How much did he pay for that custom logo of his again?

Should be this:

Sheesh!

So Roethlisberger goes down today. September has been kind to the NFL. What do you say we just have Green Bay play New England in the Super Bowl next weekend and free up all of our sundays for the next four months?

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

Still time for Rogers and Brady to go down.

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

Go Bears!

Shut out. Who'd a thought, Cutler really was doing something out there.

Who'd have thought it, not having literally the best quarterback the team has since Sid Luckman play is a bad thing. And pivoting an already shitty defense into a 3-4 might not be the smartest idea.

Imagine that.

Apparently this guy left his what I'm assuming is a David Fales jersey on the seat at the Seahawks game and walked out of the stadium.

Saying he's the "best since Sid Luckman" isn't actually saying much. He's a head-case and prone to really bad decisions.

You're right about the 3-4. It's gonna take at least another year of drafting & free agent signings to get that right.

Cutler is a legitimately great QB and has been unfairly targeted as the boogeyman by a lot of Chicago football fans (and the media). Dude makes some bad decisions when under pressure (which is practically every other down), but he has a cannon for an arm and he's been unfairly demonized for not performing well when he's had shitty offensive coordinators, shitty offensive lines, shitty receivers or shitty coaching, or some combination thereof, in every single season in Chicago. He has never been put in a place to win by ownership and management.

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

I've certainly never blamed Cutler for all the Bears' problems, but his bad decision making is his own fault. His refusal to throw a ball away has cost the team a lot of times.

A great arm doesn't offset a bad head. He's had a pretty good O-Line the last couple years, but still throws the ball straight to the DB. Sure, some of those should get hung on the WR for running the wrong route, but not all of them.

It's a bad team any way you look at it, but the QB is the most likely guy to win or lose a game.

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

There are a few QB's I've always thought would be interesting to see with a "do over" in where they ended up. Cutler would top the list.

I've often wondered how Carson Palmer's career would have panned out had he ended up with a better situation to start his career. He's in a pretty good position now but it's kind of a closing window for him with his injuries.

Last would be RG3. Granted he's still young and will most likely move in the imminent future but he's had some prime years already wasted with a carousel of head coaches and offensive coordinators. It's a fun topic to think about.

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

Happy the 'Hawks finally got a win on the board, wish it had been against a divisional team!

My concern is Marshawn Lynch. He probably should have sat out the whole game today, I think. He had issues going in and whatever he did may have exacerbated it.

Wilson finally showed some of his old fire and they finally put Jimmy Graham to work too. OL needs to find a way to stop him from getting sacked! Bears got their first two sacks of the season today on him.

Yeah, just crown their asses now so we can get on with our lives.

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Brady vs. the NFL, round 2

The Rams are going to the Super Bowl!

I may have been premature here...

:shifty:

Good God in Heaven, am I sick of losing week after week, year after year. Our offense managed 6 fucking points at home yesterday. 6 points!!! Our running game is atrocious. It's not even professional football at this point.

How bad is it? Our leading rusher has 57 yards. That's not per game, that's total over three games. Oh, and it's Tavon Austin. A fucking wide receiver is our top running back. Todd Gurley yesterday: 6 rushes, 9 yards. Welcome to the NFL, Todd.

Nick Foles slogged his way through another half-assed attempt at quarterbacking. All we needed was one touchdown. Just one!!! :scream: Our defense held the Steelers to 12 points, and we still lost.

Goddamnit all to Hell... fire everyone on the offense, the offensive coordinator, the head coach, the ball boys, :scream::scream:

Re: NFL 2015-2016 Season - Maybe extra points actually ... matter? Wha

Oh, and just to top things off, the pregame pyrotechnics actually lit the field on fire.

They should have just let it burn.

:scream:
