News Next Arrowverse Crossover to Include Batwoman

I have two questions, one kind of leading into the other

1) Are Arrow and Flash synced now? When the season started Arrow was 5 months behind Flash so does this episode take place with Oliver having been out of prison for a while?

2) Is Nora still in 2049? I was surprised she wasn't mentioned here and her reaction to Oliver being her father would have been something.

Overall it was a pretty good start. A bit more low key but there was some humor I liked and maybe it was last week but Sherlouque is becoming interesting. It's always fun watching Arrow, Flash and Supergirl team up. It did, however feel more like an ordinary episode of Flash then something special though. Of course it's the set up so hopefully things pick up in Arrow.

Ok, episode 1 of the crossover was great.

Some thoughts, not in order

- I lost my mind when the Smallville theme played, I still have fond memories of that show
- Lois Lane was pretty good
- I can't wait to see more of 90s Flash
- Amazo was cool, and I'm glad we got to see him in the Arrowverse
- Barry and Oliver as each other's superhero identity was amazing, it was really well written and acted and had both good funny moments and good serious moments

Overall this was a great way to start the crossover, and I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

I liked it. But it just felt like just a regular episode but at the same time not. The characters should be thinking and feeling a different way with all that's been going on this season but they all seemed to have had their reset buttons hit. Iris, Cisco and Caitlin all seemed way to happy and chipper in spots

Loved it. Makes me wish we had a Superman show.
Oliver’s quip about Barry needing a sappy pep talk every 9 hours was so on point. Biggest burn he will probably get.

Doesn't the 2024 newspaper mention something about red skies?
Probably referring to Crisis of Infinite Earths where the anti-monitor starts destroying universes. This story, involving the Monitor is similar in some aspects which probably why we’re getting some similar effects.

That was fun! I'm not ashamed to admit that I laughed out loud when "Save Me" started playing. My memory is a little vague on the subject since I haven't actually seen 'Smallville' since it went off the air, so I can only assume that they actually shot the Kent Farm stuff at the original location. If not then it certainly felt very familiar. Especially the establishing shot of the town, which come to think of it, they could have just lifted straight from the old show.

In that spirit, I feel like the Batwoman tag was a slightly wasted opportunity to recreate this iconic shot. I mean they sort of did...but not quite. Hell, they even talked about the skies going red in the episode, so they really could have just on all out.

Speaking of the red skies: am I the only one that incorrectly assumed that this would take away Clark & Kara's powers as soon as they showed up?

I really want to see a Superman show, but an apolitical one. There is a lot they can do with Superman.

There is so much Superman mythology and I think TV can really do the character justice--if they have the right team writing for it.

I have zero interest in Batwoman when Superman is available. I think sometimes the DC writers overestimate the appeal of C list heroes--especially when they have the A listers out there.

My hope is that they keep the momentum going from this terrific beginning episode and move the story forward. I want to see 1990 Flash. I'm far more interested in that follow up. Is he the exact same character as 1990, or a double?

And the whole multiverse should be explored more. THAT could be an entire season of Flash.

Imagine Dean Cain as an older Superman and Lois Lane, played by Teri Hatcher. We could revisit that world and find out the answer to that cliffhanger.

Or Tom Welling visiting from the Smallville universe. Or Justin Hartley as Green Arrow?

A true crossover with 1990 Flash?

So much can be done.

Other way around. Arrow picked up 5 months after last season's finale while The Flash picked up mere seconds after its finale, so it was The Flash that was 5 months behind and had to catch up. There have been some mentions of at least a couple of weeks or so passing between episodes, and they did have Thanksgiving around the right time, so we have to assume that after the first few episodes, we started getting big time jumps between installments.

What I noticed was how, in the STAR Labs scene of everyone examining Barry and Oliver, the characters were addressing each other by name more than usual. "That's right, Caitlin." "What do you think, Ralph?" That sort of thing. No doubt for the benefit of Arrow and Supergirl viewers who might not be familiar with the Flash cast.

Also we have Barry wearing the Green Arrow mask just a week after the Arrow episode literally called "Unmasked," because it would be too complicated to explain to non-Arrow viewers that Ollie's identity is now public.

Yes, they did.

They probably did. I'm sure WBTV still has the raw footage on file somewhere.

Speaking of the red skies: am I the only one that incorrectly assumed that this would take away Clark & Kara's powers as soon as they showed up?

That's red sunlight, which isn't quite the same. If the Sun turned red, it wouldn't turn the sky red (despite how Superman: The Animated Series portrayed it in "Solar Power"); rather, it would be more of a greenish-blue or grayish-green (like the color it appears if you wear blue-block sunglasses), because the air only scatters the light toward the shorter end of the spectrum and the red light would pass straight through. So we have to assume that normal sunlight would still be getting through; it's just that there's an extra red wavelength somehow being produced in the atmosphere.

Not to mention that the Supers came through at night anyway, so they must've been drawing on their reserve stores of solar energy that they soaked up on the Kent farm. (Hold on, wasn't it day when they left the farm, though? More evidence that time doesn't exactly sync up between Earth-1 and Earth-38.)

Well, I am very interested in a Batwoman show. I'm going to go out on limb and posit that the success of a Batwoman show will depend on ratings.

Not necessarily on CW. These shows don't have very high ratings. It's really a matter of whether they want to continue and have an end game. I'll give Batwoman a try, but I do think the idea of a Batman show without Batman will be very dumb unless Batman exists and just is doing his own thing--but from what I read, they are going the Birds of Prey route, where he disappeared. That's dumb. So the show for me has an uphill battle.

I really want to know what Clark was going to tell Kara about him and Lois before Barry and Oliver ruined the moment.

I think Clark is planning to propose to Lois. That is the vibe I got from the scene. And if so, that would be very cool. We need a Lois & Clark wedding on Supergirl!

I got the exact same vibe. Guessing that will happen before this crossover is over. I'm curious as to how much more Superman will do. I hope they treat him like the A lister he is, and understand that the character doesn't know he's on someone else's show, and would be a big time leader with this.

While it made sense that Earth 38 needed him, the greater threat is on Earth 1.

As I was watching, I thought it was in character for Oliver that his first reaction on discovering the swap was to conceal his true identity, to remain secretive while he assessed the situation. I was thinking it would be a good contrast if Barry had been open with Diggle from the start, and I was a bit surprised that he wasn't. But then, I think his motives were different. Oliver was being secretive and slow to trust others, but Barry was just geeking out. He was an Arrow fanboy before he even became the Flash, so this was like his nerd fantasy come true, and he was just playing along with it.

Since I don't want to be the "negative nancy" in this conversation, I will admit that I did get a kick out of Oliver and Barry's initial reactions to being stuck in each other's lives, and the conclusion that they came to regarding the roles they were going to have to play until the situation was resolved.

I was actually surprised that Oliver played along at first and same with Barry. I do see him as skeptical, but he also KNOWS Team Flash.

I was also a little surprised that Team Flash reacted as they did to Barry and Oliver. They have seen so many things that this should be something that they could have believed without locking them up.

They literally just locked them up and left them alone.

You would think that they would work with Barry and Oliver and certainly buy into the "bring in Kara" idea.

I would not hold out hope for that, if I were you.
