That is my skepticism as well. Is there enough demand to justify the expense? I highly doubt it.I'd love to see this! DS9 is my fave after TOS and I'd absolutely fork down some hard earned bucks for a blu-ray or 4k edition of the series.
I'm also not holding my breath.
Truth be told, DS9 is not that popular amongst the mainstream. Hell, TNG remastered didn't make the money that they thought they would. I think we'd be more likely to see a TOS 4k edition before we saw DS9. Not to mention all of the films.
They're going to tighten up the graphics."New VFX created using AI" is a weird statement.
AI upscaling when some CG FX shots were created in SD? Like Babylon 5 recently has? Whenever there's no model shots on film involved to rescan, you reckon? Ditto anytime they have to intercut with SD live action, because there's a missing roll of film of the cast onset?
Spock appearance happened, don't you remember? It wasn't newly recorded though.@Vullein What happened to that Star Trek - Discovery movie you claimed was going to be filmed, or that newly filmed Spock appearance for season 3 of Discovery or that season 3 would be shown in cinemas? Your track record is shoddy at best.

Al's a good guy. He's working hard"New VFX created using AI" is a weird statement.
Yeah, this. AI upscaling's been used to great effect with recent game remasters.
They'll have to completely redo all of Odo's morphing. Which is probably for the best, considering it looked so terrible they basically stopped doing in the back half of DS9.

COVID messed with a lot of my scoops. The Discovery movie got delayed because of it. A few months before COVID, I also published a bunch of production start dates for Star Trek shows and they all ended up wrong, because production got delayed on all of those shows due to COVID (though in March, sites like IATSE, DGC etc. did list Section 31 series as in pre-production and I said it would start production in May).
Something else about the Discovery movie: This is what Chris Pine said in an interview with a podcast called Things are Going Great for Me.
Deering: Are you working with Tarantino on the next Star Trek, what is the latest?
Pine: I haven’t heard anything. I mean, I get asked these questions all the time. I’m like the last person to find anything out. So, I’ve heard, what have I heard? Tarantino is going to do one. And then, who is it? Noah Hawley was going to do something else, and then that fell through. And then he’s going to do something with the Discovery, the new Alex Kurtzman-led cast. So, I really don’t know. I know that Paramount is coming out of having restructured a bit and kind of a major corporate restructuring. So hopefully when all that dust settles, something concrete will come out of it and we’ll get to work. I’d love to do it.
I don't think Hawley is actually doing the movie though. I mean, he could? I think Pine just slipped up and revealed a Discovery movie is in development. He has done this a lot before. Pretty sure he accidentally revealed who the villain of Star Trek 2 is this way.
