News? Stories from Dubious Sources

Things have certainly changed re the titles and that is certainly not out of the ordinary. The opening three episodes of DS9’s Final Chapter were to be called “Penumbra”, “Umbra” and “Eclipse.” “Penumbra” was the only title that remained in the final episodes. But there’s no reason to believe the title information presented by @Vullein wasn’t correct at some point in time.

Well, it seems like all the titles he had were correct... He was just missing some in-between. Don't think it really hurts his credibility though, at least not to any real extent. (Any more than it hurts the WGA when they reported the same list.)

The WGA page also lists a wrong title for one of the Season 2 episodes. All the rest are correct though.

Point is: these things can change. I’m actually suggesting it appears Vullein was right in reporting these titles at the time they were reported.

The titles have indeed changed slightly. This is kind of an iffy situation, I understand if you don't see this as me being right (at the time).

It's kind of similar to when I reported a Pike series was in the works with the title "Star Trek: Enterprise" and working title of "Strange New Worlds." A day or two after I did this, the Director's Guild of Canada added a listing saying exactly that and I think it might even have been mentioned here.

It was revealed a month or so later that the show was titled Strange New Worlds, "Star Trek: Enterprise" was completely dropped for, in hindsight, obvious reasons. People argued that I was wrong because I had the show name wrong, but I said Strange New Worlds was the working title. Yes, it's the actual title and not the working title, but how did I come up with that name? I don't think I could've guessed something like that.

My point is that I've been in these situations before where stuff changes (I've mentioned that before here too) and it even fools databases like the WGA I guess and DGC. I understand if you think I'm wrong but I personally see these situations as proof that I was right, at least at some point.

Just to be clear, even thought I listed the things that were "off", the main point I was making was that he gave a lot of very specific information, apparently well before anyone else did, and he was 90% right about it. That's a pretty impressive track record. (Assuming the information wasn't sitting the WGA site beforehand; I don't think it was, but I can't confirm for sure. Though he seemed to be ahead of the curve on the director list either way.)

I guess this is the right thread to post it in: I heard months ago that Discovery season 3 was set to feature a crossover with the Kelvin side of Star Trek.

The crossover was supposed to be Michael Burnham meeting Nimoy Spock (the one that we saw in the Kelvin movies). They planned to have a body do the acting, with their head being CGI'd into Leonard Nimoy's face.

They weren't able to film this scene originally, but I heard Discovery S3 recently had some quick reshoots & additional filming in Vancouver, Canada. Very secretive and stuff. I think they ended up filming this Kelvin crossover scene there.

Also, I think this might be the scene where it happens. I'm not sure.

Looking at historical records to see what happened in the last 900 years, and then focusing on Spock cause that's who Burnham is mostly interested in...? Imagine she goes to the Kelvin universe to save him and bring him back

So meeting with Prime Spock after he goes back in time? (in Star Trek 2009)
Yep.

He supposedly died off-screen in one of the movies but I don't think that means much. They can just say he faked his death, or involve time travel in this and make it make sense.

Does Spock talk during this scene? If so , will they use Nimoy's voice or is someone mimicking his voice or maybe use Peck's voice?

no need for any of that. The scene could take place before he dies.

Hmm. That sounds like an odd attempt at continuity that would enrage many of the long-term fans while attempting to appease them.

So, while it's a little crazy, it does sound suspiciously like something that would happen on Discovery...

I'm not opposed to the idea if it happens, but it does seem a little out there. While bringing Michael face to face with Spock at/near the end of his life would be an emotional moment for sure, I'm not really sure what it would add plotwise to the story. If they are picking up the "Unification" story arc, I think the same emotion could be accomplished showing the Vulcans and Romulans together with someone saying, "This, Michael, is your brother's legacy." But then again, I have no idea what exactly they have planned. Time will tell, I suppose.

We could get a Spock Prime message BEFORE he heads for the supernova thingy. That would keep it in line with the Prime universe. And that would be his end in that universe as well. I'd love to see something like that. Very poignant to have a final participation by Nimoy in Discovery, even if computer-supported (I wonder if they could have unused footage from the films).

But we don't KNOW if this is even a thing. I can assure it is NOT in the premiere. Unification III seems to be the best bet, if it is for real. I SHIVER to think of Nimoy addressing Michael Burnham in a final message! Now, if it doesn't happen, I'll be really frustrated... but it is a long shot.
