Two of you main characters and the ship, you won't be able to do anything overly dramatic with. The show will end up like the TOS novels and comics, where all the toys have to be returned to the box the way they were found.

You say that like its a bad thing, its a relief after the long habit of killing off characters carelessly that has become over used in TV within the last decade or so.

There are so many sorts of stories they can tell without killing and maiming those 3 characters. Plus there is likely to be more major crew added to the show like new Bridge officers. They won't just have a bridge crew of 3.

Personally I'm hoping they go for more traditional episodic weekly adventures, the rest of the shows appear to be Arc heavy so it'd be nice to have one of the series be more traditional explore and move on for most of the episodes.

The point stands that arguing with people on deeply emotional topics (and Star Trek is one) is a fool's errand. It requires a relationship were new ideas are welcome. Online usually isn't it.

I could actually see that one being true if its a 10 episode season. I mean compared to TOS/TNG/Voyager/DS9/Ent Picard's entire planned 3 seasons could almost fit in 1 Season of the previous shows, for example Picard Seasons 1-3 would be 30 episodes, DS9 Season 7 was 26 Episodes. So if Section 31 is Picard sized you could even shoot Seasons 1-3 back to back to back in a single year without trouble , nevermind 2. Even if S31 is Discovery size, say 14-16 Episodes per season, you could do 2 seasons back to back.

ViacomCBS had its more volatile day on the exchange. But a few interesting announcements. Two new Star Trek shows and confirmation that Discovery is a model show for them.

1. Rise of Skywalker made 1.1 billion dollars. It's not a failure by anyone's calculations.
2. Doctor who ratings have been stable at 5 million viewers for the past season. I don't know where all this ratings crash is coming from.
3. AND Star Trek. Discovery season 4 has been renewed. CBS all access has 10 million subscribers thanks to Picard and season 2 has been green lit. 2 new series are in the work. Section 31 is delayed not cancelled. A Pike series is seriously being talked about. Yeah Trek 4 is pretty much dead but no one cares about Trek 4.

1. Sonic the Hedgehog is going to limp past 300 million (partly thanks to the coronavirus). It's not going to beat Detective Pickachu.
2. The Expanse season 4 barely passed 2 million viewers on Amazon. That's after a massive push by both Amazon and the fanbase. Current rating winner on Amazon is "the Boys"
3. The Orville is still moving to Hulu and it's future is uncertain with Seth MacFarlane's new deal.
5. The new Dune is super Woke according to the director.

Overall Scifi is doing Ok

I wouldn’t care too much about these YouTube channels. Midnight’s Edge, Doomcock, Nerdrotic, etc. all use Pandbot to mass inflate their numbers, and automated accounts for comments.

That’s why their videos tend to abruptly stop getting views after a little bit of time, as they turn the bot system off.

That’s why many comments repeat, and come from accounts that have 0 activity beyond commenting.
