News? Stories from Dubious Sources

"The Mandalorian" was pretty low key and it worked.

Did it though? I ended up pretty bored with it by the end of the first season, that last episode was the longest 45 minutes of my life. And they didn't have any characters that had a written future in the show.

Baby Yoda can only carry it so far.

you won't be able to do anything overly dramatic with.
I don't agree. Both Pike and Spock had dramatic stuff happen in DSC Season 2.

There status in TOS won't preclude them having drama before TOS. Especially Pike and Number One.

The only thing I remember with Pike was seeing the chair, they aren't going to be able to hang a whole multi-season series on that bit. Spock? I got to be honest, I don't remember anything truly dramatic happening with the character.

Spock's mind was broken and had to be fixed by the Talosians, that's pretty dramatic.

So they did something, something that will never be mentioned again in his Prime timeline story, and had to fix it. Essentially, like the events never happened to begin with. They put the toys back in the box. Just like the novels have to do. They are essentially still doing an episodic format, just stretched across a season.

For me, a Pike show would be far more interesting as an alternate universe show. A show where anything can happen to the Enterprise and to Pike and Spock.

Anything can happen to Pike (except death) and Number One, because we know nothing anything about their adventures after DSC.

Number One is never seen again after 'The Cage' and DSC so her life is an unwritten book, and Pike's condition in TOS makes it hard for him to really talk about the past 7 years, so almost anything can happen to him.

Two of you main characters and the ship, you won't be able to do anything overly dramatic with. The show will end up like the TOS novels and comics, where all the toys have to be returned to the box the way they were found.
I don't quite get this. What do you mean by "anything overly dramatic"? The only thing they can't do is kill Pike and Spock, or destroy the Enterprise, and that doesn't prevent them from experiencing all kinds of adventures and horrors and growing as characters, surviving traumas, keeping growing with the scars. I don't see the necessity of a looming death for a good story. With non serial storytelling, episode for episode, season for season?

And still, they could rip off the nacelles of the Enterprise or severe the neck, that would be pretty shocking as part of a good story, though nothing a longer stay in drydock couldn't fix when the storm is over.

Knowing the fates of the characters never ruined the enjoyment for me personally. Usually I follow this stories with a mindset of "OK, we know they're getting out of this, how are they going to manage that?" The fact that Pike and Spock have to live through and the Enterprise has to stay at least repairable doesn't mean we can't have compelling stories with dramatic tension. We could still have a story where the tension comes from whether the Enterprise can stop something bad from happening, a bad guy from escaping, getting seriously damaged and so on. Not to mention, it's not like there was ever a realistic chance of the Enterprise being blown up or Kirk/Spock getting unceremoniously killed in a random TOS episode anyway, even though we technically didn't know their fates.

It's a fake is my favorite part of the whole thing.................Although I am sure they will simply ignore it and carry on preaching crap to their minions.

it's fun laughing at them but they represent something truly ugly, the advancement of the Alt-Right. Like it or not the movement is growing. They transformed Pepe the Frog in to hate speech. They help ruin Rise of Skywalker. They advance fascism, homophobia and misogyny to a very vulnerable audience. I hate bringing politics in to this but let's remember that people laughed at the Nazis and we all know how that ended.

I absolutely know where you're coming from and understand what you mean, but we need to be careful with the choice of words. Your comment in this form would be countered with "Are you saying we are all Alt Right?" or "Don't be a drama queen / snowflake / soyboy!" or "For calling us Nazis for criticizing of a TV series and trying to prevent free speech, you are the true Nazi!"

I've seen all of that and worse; deflection, projection, gaslighting. That definitely is the MO of right positioned individuals and organizations - but also of grifters and con men, trying to cash in by prying on susceptible audiences, and of course pandering to the right itself. I'm pretty sure that most of those Fandumb Menace HateTubers are grifters, doing it for the clicks. Any thing else might be a bit too much speculation.

Then there's those harmless, disappointed fans who just have an unfortunate choice of words. So, generalizations won't be helpful in confronting this issue. As serious as the situation seems at times, it's important to stay level headed. I've god knows needed to remind myself often enough.

I first hesitated to stay too long on this topic, because I'm not sure how much delving into politics is tolerated here, but there's this quite relevant quote by Jean-Paul Sartre I'd like to leave here.

"Never believe that anti‐Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly since he believes in words. The anti‐Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument has passed."

For a deeper understanding, this article gives nice overview:

As far as I'm concerned, I'd rather leave it at that for the time being.

Please take politics to TNZ..........BOTH sides use fake news to further their cause because people are too damn lazy to fact check ANYTHING before they share. It is a great weapon for the lemmings. Now back to the future of Trek............

Germany in 1935 didn't have the TBBS and TNZ to save them..........use it now.
