News? Stories from Dubious Sources

As discussed elsewhere, this thread is intended as a place to consolidate the inevitable posts about news from sources of questionable repute like Midnight's Edge, Nerdrotic, Overlord DVD / Doomcock, and the like. Going forward, any new threads concerning such "news" items may be merged into this thread. I'd also generally recommend posting such items here rather than in ongoing threads.

Let the completely unsubstantiated fun commence.

Is this like Al Capone's vault?

Certainly more expansive than what the Roddenberry Vault blu-ray turned out to be. :(

Picard and Seven are lovers!

Why not? Both of them were Borg and "collectively" shared everything else...

But why not? Lots of people decided the 9th Doctor and Rose were at the time! :barf: :guffaw:

25 PERCENT!!!!!11!!1

I have used the line, as sarcasm - works either way. In some ways I wish it were true, there is just no reason for Pike and crfews' outfits to have that tacky ill-fitting collar... apart from the surely improbable "poor costuming design", or "backhanded compliments of the fans of TOS" - but that one is even more ridiculous than the "25 percent" rule or other, in-universe reasons.

I'll try to be far more conscious of it, though I've not posted many links to them and haven't for a while (thankfully). Those sources have occasionally been right but when they're wrong they're often really wrong, either by design or legitimately missing out on some details (that happens to everyone), but increasingly to the point of unsubscribing and that takes a lot since I'll try to listen to most points of view, no matter how disagreeable, since if the truth is in the middle then one has to listen to all extremes to find the middle? And they do seem to share seemingly the same articles and anonymous sources. At least some of them state upfront where there are rumors but that's all it is. Entertainment for those who want it.

At least Doomcock has a novel way with the song and dance, live shows excluded since he turns off the darth vader voice box, but he won't beat Cartman and Butters any time soon. He's been off the mark to make his case at times as well, and there are issues he shouldn't try to defend (regardless if one agrees or not, that isn't the point but at least those issues are few...) Never mind he loves getting all that toy merchandise from the people he tells to keep their wallets closed cuz "without respect we reject" and the rest of all that.

ME has been increasingly a laughing stock with the faux temper tantrums being acted out regarding various franchises and it is the same group with that interview with the guy who did the TNG blu-ray stuff who could actually vouch on some of the claims, back then!

At least Nerdrotic once made an amusing anecdote about DW series 12's "plastic in the oceans" theme and spouting about not buying the toys since those apparently all end up there, so that's good for a chuckle.

And to think there are channels out there that are positively vulgar and I'm not namedropping two biggies, but one of them has a title that describes them perfectly...

Hmm. There's a billboard for Picard, on Highland. Saw it last week, walking between the Red Line station and Hollywood Bowl. (Dudamel was conducting, that evening, with Yuja Wang, on a program of Barber, Adams, and Tchaikovsky, and [for something completely different] Sousa's Liberty Bell as an encore.)

Looked like Picard, in front of what appeared to be a vineyard, and a dog with a Starfleet insignia tag.

Because of Picard's mind-meld with Sarek, he knows about Micheal Burnham. He mentions her and the USS Discovery. When Starfleet Command finds out, they charge Picard with Treason. This prompts Picard to call for Saul Goodman, leading an official crossover between Star Trek: Picard and Better Call Saul.

Saul cuts a deal leading to Picard resigning from Starfleet in exchange for not being charged with Treason. And that is the reason he left.

Bryan Fuller is the only one responsible for STPicard's major plot points!

Picard's dog is suing Kurtzman because it invented tardigrades.

(though the guy alleging his video game was plagiarized was something he brought up before the dubious sources had(?): http://anas-tronaut.blogspot.com/2017/10/star-trek-discovery-tardigrades.html Which he may or may not have a case (I've not read much into it), though one or two issues are something of a stretch and it's not like Trek (especially TNG) hasn't showcased big creatures that exist in space before, but is it as overly simple as that? )

I like the idea of a thread where some of the online asshats can be challenged.

Most of them still allow rebuttals and discontent within their perception of reason (regardless of how much profanity is utilized), but as with most channels all one finds posting are those in 99.99%+ agreement.

If I remember the timeline correctly (I was around when he first posted on reddit about it) he made that post and then every person who wanted to see the show cancelled glommed on to it (including the usual suspects on youtube), and pinned their hopes and dreams on this going anywhere and taking Discovery down. And there isn't really anything to it. Even back then I looked at his "evidence" and it was reaching pretty hard, and after actually actively looking into it, it pretty much evaporated into nothing.
