News? Stories from Dubious Sources

If they restarted it completely and created a whole new continuity where nothing that happened before matters, it'd be the first TV/movie production to do so for Trek. That's not to say other productions can't claim otherwise afterwards.

If this is what they were to do, this is where I would part ways with a franchise. I had little to no interest in the Kelvin movies and I don't see this being any different.

Yeah I don't have any drive to invest in a whole new universe either but we'll still have STO until they inevitable deboot back to Prime. And if Kinberg's Dark Pheonix film being ignored to bring back the original cast is any indication his Trek continuity wont last long.

Dark Phoenix wasn't that bad. Certainly not that good either. I think my reaction when it was over was just "so that's it?" I've seen much worse movies, that's for sure.

Indeed. It would surprise me if anyone lamented the loss of that film, I watched it for free and felt I spent too much.
But is this really a case of a specific film being intentionally ignored, or is Marvel doing what it does and giving us a variant version of the characters from "universe 496" or something? Or do they just not grasp the minutiae of fhe X-Men film timeline(s)?

I'd still like to see the original version of the film they made before Captain Marvel came out, which ended up being so similar, Fox had to basically redo the entire third act and change identities of multiple characters.
