News on Enterprise: Romulan War?

When I first saw this cover a month ago, Shran does look like hes in a Starfleet uniform. Would be interesting to finally see him on the Enterprise, even if its to help out with the War.

Lord knows the series left him in a position to be available, a captain without a ship. I could see an office exchange program with the Andorians, like Vulcan's with Starfleet. Didn't Shran say he was likely to face retribution for losing his ship? Demotion to Commander or its Andorian Navy equivilant, and assignment to Archer's team... make him Starfleet's problem. Might be interesting.

I thought Shran would be a good candidate to lead the MACOS on the ship. He is an experienced soldier, after all. I don't see him wanting to actually serve in Starfleet..he might think they're not military enough! At least the MACOS are soldiers like him. He'd probably relate better to the 'sharks' than the 'squids'.

I've been trying to think of what position Shran could take, and that would certainly work.

^ I disagree with the idea of putting Shran on Enterprise. He was an Andorian Commander, for him to then go to being a sub-ordinate on an Earth ship would seem like too much of a back-pedal for him, particularly given how proud he is...

That's precisely what makes it dramatically interesting...

something I've been meaning to ask for ages. Where in TMP are the Rigellian Chelons?

I've studied many a still shot and much of the moving footage of the San Francisco scene, over and over. It's hilarious when you find the three Andorians. One female splinters off from the others, and scoots off into the crowd, avoiding matt lines all the way!

I finally found the Shamin Priests over the tram track to the far right, where the figures are very tiny, and I think the Chelons ended up there too.

Certainly, if you watch the Vulcan scenes in ST III carefully, a Rigellian Chelon's staff gets re-used by a Vulcan!

That sure would be interesting to see too. Shran promoted to Major and given command of Enterprise's MACOs. Never throught of that before. Great thinking there.

Amazon.com had an update and a slight title change The Romulan war :Under the Raptor's wing.

That title change is also now at Simon & Schuster's website, so I guess it's an official change. It's a bit of a mouthful now, mind you - Star Trek: Enterprise - The Romulan War: Beneath the Raptor's Wing may be the longest title ever; does Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Mission Gamma: This Gray Spirit edge it? :D

^Ohh, that's easily beaten by Worlds of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Volume Three: Ferenginar: Satisfaction is Not Guaranteed. Fourteen words and four colons.

I loved Shran. I was hoping for the Season 5 stuff with him on the Ent. As long as he's there I'm happy. These are the books I'm most looking forward to reading.

DarkHorizon: Where did you get that pic of mad scientist Doogie? Is that from a project he's done?

If I understand Andorian ranks correctly, that would likely be a *demotion* for Shran. They would probably make him a Colonel, or at least a Lt. Colonel, in the MACOS.
