That would be great. There is so much to fill-in and/or do new stuff that's just new. (IMHO), we've had enough 5yr mission to make it 10 years.

Honestly, I think Christopher Bennett knows and loves that era better than I do, but I have been thinking about the gap between TFF and TUC . . . .

That time period would be very good and I would defiantly read a TOS book taking place then.

The gap between TFF and TUC is, personally, my favorite "era" for stories with the original crew. Plenty of room there, and anything set during that period immediately gets my attention and money.
Since there have only been a few novels set in those years, though, in my personal continuity I fill in the "gaps" with my favorite stories from the DC Comics run, a good chunk of which took place then. They even had Saavik back on board for a while, which made me happy.
Now, I also love stories set after TUC, but let's face it, that period is now really overcrowded.

There's a decent gap between TFF and TUC and you really do have an affinity for the characters.
There's certainly room for a book or two there, or even an *ahem* series !

If you do get to do movie era TOS and do write Savvik, please write her as the Kirsty Ally (original) Savvik. The Robin Curtis Savvik is just too stiff and not as appealing.
While I definately share your desire for more "movie era" TOS, there is no such thing as "enough" TOS in ANY era.
And, as far as Saavik goes, the more Robin Curtis, the better. I have nothing against Alley, I just think Curtis was better.

I do too. I always thought she was more "vulcan" than Alley. Robin Curtis' Saavik seemed more like Spock. After reading her background, not only the half romulan thing, but the fact that she was raised by Spock and his parents, it seemed even more so. That being said, Kirsty Alley was still quite good
I prefer Curtis to Alley, and I believe Margaret Wander Bonanno does too; she wrote Unspoken Truth based more on Curtis's version of Saavik.
Although, to be honest, my preference has more to do with the actresses in general than specifically with how they played Saavik.
