I'd like to watch all the other series before watching the original, I just started watching the first episode of enterprise and its interesting if I watch the new ones first my interest in it wont go away whereas if I watch the old one then Im pretty sure im gonna lose interest half way through.

I do believe every series but Deep Space Nine will be on Netflix starting in July, with DS9 following in October. It would be well worth $7.99 a month.

I am a diehard Trekkie who's seen almost every last hour of Star Trek ever produced, but even I wouldn't tell you to watch hundreds upon hundreds of hours of the show since it's not really something YOU like. I say take the advice of those who've mentioned Trek's best episodes and movies and see them. Or see the series she likes. But my advice is to get an appreciation for Trek, and a frame of reference for your gf's interests, but don't put yourself through it all.

Movies: Star Trek '09, 2-4, 6, First Contact
TNG seasons 3-6
DS9 seasons 3-6

In that order. If you like them, fill them out with the rest of it.

And I suggest these without including some of my personal favorite seasons and movies.

I would go with DS9 first and then TNG. I think Sisko is very dynamic compared to other captains. There's nothing pretentious about him. Watching other captains in action is like watching boy scouts or some high school kids trying to save the rain forests in Costa Rica. Everything is so politically correct, everybody fits into a nice neat categories, and by the end of each episodes everything is resolved...yeah, they're the man! [laugh] I think in real life everybody wants to be on the good side and trying to matter in the world; it's not like in other series where you're the bad guy and I'm the good guy so you better watch out. The line is kindda blur on DS9. You see where different people are coming from and it serves as a reminder that we shouldn't devide people into different categories. No matter what religions you are, or nationalities, or classes, we all want the same thing out of life. When it boils down to it we have the same problems.

I want to tell you that I think you're being a pretty awesome boyfriend, wanting to know all about something your girlfriend is so into. That being said, you really should watch it with your girlfriend. Let her experience something she loves through your eyes.

thanks guys and girls and lol part of the reason i want to watch it from scratch is because half the stuff she tells me about trek interests me and im 10 episodes into Enterprise and i think im in love.
