New 'War of the Worlds' TV miniseries

There's no advertising in England. 2 hours without adds, can be close to 3 hours with adds. Does Spain have advertising? I saw an Hour and a half version with no ads, then shrunk the picture down to finger print size becuase most of my attention was diverted to a game of scrabble I was playing with myself, which is probably why I didn't notice a change in the alien's weapons systems.

My bad.
I guess we can drop the spoiler tags at this point. I watched only the first episode of the English version, which was 1.5 hours without commercials (which is why I assumed its 2 hours when it airs). The change in weapons systems seems to be between the sphere and the tripod - the tripod uses a more traditional laser type weapon.

I need to watch Real Genius again.

Report from the nations where it has run say "Not good."

Seems to be running in different versions, 3 episodes (maybe 50m) in the UK, two in Australia.

Not quite true; no advertising on the BBC, but yes on all other channels, starting with ITV, Channel 4, Five, etc.

I really liked it.

A few months ago I tried to watch the War of the Worlds (1989) episode where the baddies time travel back to 1953 to stop the aliens going into hibernation.

This shit came out the same year as Quantum Leap.

Sometimes the creators just do not care

Greg Strangis just didn't care

I don't know why this series is getting all this hate. It's a solid 7 out of 10 in my opinion.

The only thing that really bothered me was:

The martian design; how were they supposed to build anything with three swords for legs and a straw? Also, because they use tripod machines it obviously means they must have three legs themselves, much like humans drive around in cars with wheels, so we naturally have wheels instead of legs.

The series takes a very serious turn toward British guilt in episode 3.

The finale is pretty weak. It sets up a twist that would follow an event from the book and then doesn't follow through. The future scenes are weak. Meh. Episode 2 was the best.

^Pretty much. Though I actually really liked the build up in episode one, with everyone just going about their business while this threat just sits there preparing, and then all hell breaks loose.

Right, one sets up an excellent two, and then it's wrapped up in an awful 3...

Ok so... this is the show we're talking about: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8001226/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1

And this one: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9686194/?ref_=nv_sr_3?ref_=nv_sr_3 is about to come out. Anyone know anything about it? Is it even in English?

So the UK version is cut differently from the overseas version - anyone seen a list of the differences?
