CBS have posted a little video on their Instagram feed, showing red and yellow tunic tops with sleeve stripes.
No expense spared phone screenshots:

Those details are also on the base Discovery uniform (minus the rank insignia)![]()
"Can I copy your homework?"
"Sure just change a few things so it's not obvious"
"god this show is nothing but fanwank"
"I DON'T RECOGNIZE ANYTHING ABOUT THIS SHOW"
Because it's more ammo against Discovery. Regardless of what has come before Discovery is the worst! (trademark pending).Or we could be really whacky and try not bitching about inane details of a television show at all.
Bottom line: Star Trek has a demonstrated history of uniforms being all over the board and changing rapidly. Not sure why this surprises or frustrates anyone at this point.

Which makes it more entertaining which should be the show's first goalI think as long as they aim for the middle and it pisses off both extremes, they've done their job. When it comes to those people with extreme preferences: I always maintain, "It's not going to be as much the same as one side wants and it's not going to be as different as the other side wants."
The STD outfits look like something from Rocket Patrol. They look like what happens when a Starfleet uniform designer of the 2230s or 2240s came up with when somebody said "those blue jumpsuits Jonathan Archer wore before the founding of the Federation were kinda practical. Let's do something that echoes those uniforms but without the zipper pockets and let's bring back the rank pips they used, only we'll emboss them on the Starfleet insignia!" Frankly, while they're far from the worst Starfleet uniform we've ever seen they're not that good.
I still think having just one collar tab and muted department colors woven in metallic fabric just look weak. Whatever the final Enterprise uniforms look like in Season 2 they're going to be a lot better than these. I'd much rather have seen them use a variant of the two-piece uniform with a belt that the Kelvin crew wore in 2233. Those uniforms had a TOS-style utility belt, separate black trousers, rank braids on the sleeves and a more TOS pilot-era color. The Kelvin officers were much closer to the aesthetic of "The Cage(TOS)" than DSC's been.

Why can't scifi people were regular clothes? The Orville uniforms look like waitstaff outfits at a mid-tier downtown Detroit Brazilian BBQ restaurant.
Must be a thing with sci-fi, huh?
Because it's the fuuuutrrre
Your regular clothes will be a silly looking historical costume to the future people. Why can't scifi people were regular clothes?
And the reverse is true.Your regular clothes will be a silly looking historical costume to the future people.
Of course. Outfits from another era often look silly or weird to us. It is only natural. And the reverse is true.
