New Uniform Variant

At the end of Saints of Imperfection, it seems a new uniform variant is introduced. It's very similar to the normal DSC uniform, except it had no collar and the silver accents are gone. Burnham and Stamments are both shown in this uniform. But then at the end of the episode Burnham is back in a normal uniform.

This jumpsuit variant is worn on landing parties underneath the tactical vest. It was seen in the first season as well.

I prefer the bling-free version. Finally Starfleet giving their landing parties armour vests and cutting out the bright colours/accents. Only took 50 years.

I like the landing party jumpsuits too. I've generally been pretty 'meh' towards costume design in this show, but they are good.

It's nice when Starfleet has multi-purpose uniforms. One of the things I appreciated about TMP and the Abrams films.

An excursion uniform makes sense. I know because of budget the previous shows just used the duty uniform for landing parties/away mission.

We have seen different uniforms worn in the DSC Mirror episodes, but none of them were like this. They're a different shade of blue, have gold bling, and higher collars.

It was implied that they changed into their survival gear after the pods landed. Kirk looked like he was finishing dressing and getting equipment out of the pod.

The base uniform underneath all the bling was a black jumper, similar to the Prime excursion one.

They have the department coloured ribbing but not the rest of the bling. The (Non-Tilly) collar is the same as the incursion uniform.

I'm trying to get an image, most officers wear the shiny collar, but there are some without it.

Yeah it's been pointed out.
I guess it's meant to be a personal choice on the part of the officer.
