New Ultraman Teaser Trailer for 50th anniversary?

A few hours ago, Tsuburaya uploaded this teaser trailer on YouTube:

In case it's geo-blocked (as it is for me), here's a re-upload from another YouTube channel:

No other announcement has been made. I hope it's a proper movie coming out next year, because this looks amazing!

It looks ok. I think it may be a fan produced short film. The special effects don't seem to be up to par with today tech. If they do make one I hope its made in Japan and not here in the states. Americanized Japanese monster films usually suck.

With all that said I found that little piece of video you posted interesting.

if this is really for reals...i don't like the way Ultraman looks. the moveable mouth makes him look weird. monster looks great.

i haven't had time to watch Ultraman X yet. i wish some sub group would finish Ultraman Ginga S.

The effects may not be up to par with today's Hollywood tech, but CGI in Japanese movies have always been a little behind.
Looks good enough to me, anyway, especially for a teaser trailer, and too good to be done by a fan.

Also, it was uploaded on the official Tsuburaya YouTube channel.

This - it's at the level of Japanese CGI offerings. I was disappointed they didn't have him firing the cross-hand beam at least once in the clip.;)

It should also be noted that this is Tsuburaya, not Toho or Toei. It's a relatively small company, with nowhere near the budgets that the big studios have.

Well, presumably, this would be the start of the fight. The cross-hand beam (officially known as the Specium Ray) is Ultraman's finishing move, so it's obvious why it wasn't in the teaser.

Compared to the Ultraman I'm used to watching, the effects were great. No wires or zippers.

I hope something more comes of it.

Well, I'm not a big cg supporter and have nothing against the wires or zippers, just I didn't mind this new one either. I thought he looked like who he was supposed to be. Unlike some "redone" characters, no examples listed here.

I would gladly have wires and zippers or cg with a good story well made. No matter what it looks like, it has to be a good story and made well. That's why a Japanese kid's show from the 60s is still one of my favorite shows.

I assume the classic "suitmation" technique will survive on the Ultra TV shows (the current "Ultraman X" is using the traditional sfx), so I'm okay with one movie experimenting with CGI, especially when it looks this good.
