New TWOK Figures

You guys seen the new TWOK figures? You can see them all - Wave 1 and Wave 2 - on the above URL. Just look back and forth in the gallery.

Wave 2 gives us McCoy, Scotty, Sulu, Chekov, and near-Death bloodied Khan.

The "blood stain" looks more to me like Kirk was eating a sandwhich and there was a katsup mishap.

Honestly, how hard is it to sculpt a figure that actually looks like the actor? Could they possibly TRY to do it?

It's nice that we finally have a Captain Terrell figure, but damn, none of the figures looks even remotely like the actor they're supposed to represent. The suck factor is high in this one.

I think they did a great job on the sculpts even for prototypes-Scotty, Sulu, Kirk, Terrell, Khan. Chekov could use some work. The Picard and Riker S1 figures, Sisko, Ezri, Odo, Beverly Crusher, Q, Data, LaForge, Lore, Khan/Kirk from Space Seed all look good as well. And the Enterprises look stunning.

I'm quite pleased by what is coming out and I am glad to see they are being ambitious even though I have doubts that even with the best intentions they'll roll out everything this year.

The figures look nice. But how is it we have a TWOK figure line without Saavik? Or Spock (preferably a radiation-ravaged dying one)?

Now that I come to think of it, has there ever been a Saavik figure? Did Playmates ever do one? (I seem to recall that they did, but I don't trust my memory any more...)

Playmates did one. It was the only one from the TOS movies in one of the TWOK uniforms; all the other characters appeared as they did in TMP.

Playmates did do a 5" Kirk, Scotty and Chekov - in the WOK-style uniforms, but as seen in "Generations". And there was the Scotty casual vest "Relics" (TNG) figure, too. In the 9" line, they did a Kirk in WOK-style uniform, and a Spock and Kirk in 12".

In the past waves, they've planned some characters as bonus two-packs. For example, NEM Riker and Troi. There's a great Ro Laren & Elissa Ogawa TNG twin pack coming. And an "All Good Things" Novelist Geordi and Professor Data twin pack.

I'm sure the twin pack to accompany the ST II waves will be something like Saavik & Spock.

Is it just me or does McCoy seem to have more gray hair than in the movie? It's been a while and I don't rightly remember.

Overall, it's nice to see someone finally make a figure of Captain Terrell. I've always been a fan of the "smaller" characters in the franchise.

Indeed, you know they'll do Spock and Saavik. But they're holding off for a third wave. Likewise, perhaps we'll see David. I could see wave 3 being...

Spock, Radiation Spock, Saavik, David and/or Scotty in Radiation jump-suit.

As to looks, most figures do look like them. I'd have to say the only ones that need work are Picard's nose, Jadzia's eyes, and a few other features here and there, but nothing major.

Maybe the Saavik figure could have a variant with her hair down...
