New Trek XI Forum Slogan Suggestions

So every time I pop in here, I have the same thought. Well, more the same mental image.

All of us just sitting around, twiddling our thumbs, as we sit on the front porch of some run-down shack. We're looking down a long dirt road every 15 seconds or so to see if anything is coming. We sit, we twiddle, we look.

Every once and a while, we see a trail of dust from up the road and get all excited, "something's coming, something's coming!" is shouted, and everyone prepares for a big event. Trailer, picture of the Enterprise, publicity stills from the film, a massive major spoiler.

And then, when whatever it is finally arrives, it's nothing. It's just some crumb like we've been getting for what is it, two years now? Nothing of substance. A passer-by, a tourist, somebody lost on the way to the interstate. So we sit back, and we go back to twiddling our thumbs.

Anyone else feel as such?

Anyway, because of my mental image, I thought perhaps a new slogan for this forum might be in order.

"Trek XI Forum: Come twiddle your thumbs and wait around with the rest of us!" :)

 :p

Thoughts?

You've pretty much paraphrased the runner-up in the Trek XI Forum Motto Contest: "Wasting time until May 2009".

Tralah
will be very pleased. :D

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the current slogan (only because of the creator's unparalleled genius and modesty), but you're right.

The current slogan desribed the forum perfectly until the sombrero, SHOUTING SPOCK, etc. came into full bloom, and then Tralah's entry seemed much more fitting.

I'm glad we traded fear for fun, but I suspect as soon as we start to see some real snippets of what the movie will look like, my entry will (sadly) become appropriate again.

Or we could perhaps say that it never became inappropriate at all -- that PEZ nacelles and Toblerone projectiles and fuzzy dice and SHOUTING TOASTY AVOCADO SANDWICHES are but different faces which fear has to show us.

We could say all sorts of things, really.

Go nuts. :techman:

Rather than distractions, the Holy Sombrero, Sanctus Avocadus, and once-upon-a-time... Blue Nacelles help us to pass that disappointing time. We have overcome our despair by becoming creative and laughing with/at ourselves.

*someone softly sings, "We Shall Overcome" quietly in the background*

"Ridiculous theoretical assertion about the plot of the new movie stated in completely neutral tone. Sexual innuendo."

I intensely dislike the current slogan! I haven't given any thought to a replacement yet, but we could have something a little more neutral...Optimism is in short supply with Trek fans these days.

RAMA

Trek XI: "The tinfoil is as precious as any dilithium crystal."
