New TREK already reflected in real life

You know it just occurs to me looking at the picture of the TOS bridge. Can you imagine sitting in the navigator seat? If you adjust that chair by like a centimeter just to get comfortable, you'll fall right off that platform.

Not only that, but look how close the captain's chair is -- How would you like to have to go to work every day and know your boss is sitting right over your shoulder - what if you have to fart? what if your bored cruising along at warp 2 for days on end and want to chat with the guy or gal next to you, or the new yeoman - no chance - the old man is right there glaring at the back of your head.

I'm also very curious about where the entrance(s?) to the bridge are.
Right about there, maybe?

I wondered.

But don't be silly.

I don't see any huge red panels there. ;)

You know, it smacks of hubris to think that some television program was responsible for the inspiration of today's technology. I think Trek fans don't give mankind enough credit. I think most of the wonders we have now would have happened regardless of Star Trek existing or not. In fact, most historians believe that if the Library At Alexandra had not burned down, a lot of the inventions we now have would have been developed centuries earlier. And that was definitely no television show.

Obviously, you have never seen Shat's special on the History Channel. I'm not a Shat fan, but it was a good show about all the inventions inspired by TOS. Many scientists told of ideas coming from TOS. Many others spoke of how Trek inspired them to dream.
So nya, nya, nya... :rommie:

Motorola's first small flip phone was named the "StarTAC". NOT a coincidence, btw.
