New trailer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution !

An excellent (in my opinion) new trailer for the Deus Ex prequel has been released.

The new game takes place in 2027, 25 years before the events of the original game, and before the collapse. The look of the new game reminds me of Ghost in the Shell and Blade Runner.

Very, very cool. They should go an epic movie series just from the trailers on this thing. Hopefully the gameplay will wash away the bad taste of Invisible War.

Yeah, they're defiantly channelling BR & GiTS, but then so did the original and to great effect.

Still, as pretty and intriguing as it all is, it's still all just pre-rendered animation. I'll wait until I see some game-play before I place a pre-order. ;)

Speaking of which, is there any word on what the game itself will be like? I'm going to go out on a limb and say it looks as if it's going to be a 3rd person stealth/combat game like 'Arkham Asylum'. I also note most of the weapons are close combat so I don't see this being much of a shooter. So much the better. I just hope they kept the exploration, branching storylines and quasi-RPG elements from the first game.

I was just thinking, the only thing that bothers me about this trailer is that the cityscape looks too advanced for a mere 17 years in the future. For example, look at that multi-level city design that you see in one part of the trailer - Even if we started building that tomorrow, I couldn't picture it being finished in 17 years. Don't get me wrong though, I really like the art direction and I don't want them to change it.

This interview gives some info on what the game is like. It sounds like it will be a mix of old and new elements. They are bringing back the experience point system, which I think is great. You can gain experience through exploring the levels like in the original. On the other hand some stuff is completely new, for example regenerating health and a cover system like Mass Effect.

From the above linked interview:
The first game is definitely our inspiration more so than Invisible War so on that note, we are going back to an inventory system similar to Deus Ex 1 and getting rid of universal ammo which Invisible War had. In terms of level design and technology, the levels will be similar in size to the first game. The missions are designed around a multi-path, multi-solution approach so depending on whether you like combat, stealth, hacking, or social elements, you can choose how you want to complete an objective and will therefore see different parts of the levels. As a Deus Ex game, you may be able to utilize the environment to your advantage during some situations and depending on your choices, you won’t see everything the first time so multiple playthroughs are a must!

I've only seen parts of the first two games and wasn't that impressed, but this looks very intriguing.

Here's hoping they keep that voice actor. You just can't go wrong with someone who sounds like Christian Bale.

I might be wrong but I thought I spotted some signs of ongoing construction in a few shots. I suppose you could argue that with what is clearly a quantum leap forward in robotics, construction of this scale would conceivably go much faster than is humanly possible...yeah, it's still a bit of a stretch, but then so's all the advanced cybernetics.

He sounds a lot like Walton Simons from the first game. It's almost uncanny.
I noticed that too. Maybe it's not a coincidence? ;)

I hope it's very heavily modified. Although i'm liking the screenshots. Needs a bit more blue though.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - CGI

Very, very cool. They should go an epic movie series just from the trailers on this thing.
Wow. very cool. I agree. This is probably the best cinematic trailer I've seen for a game.
I'll be using it an an example of what is possible with cinematic CGI. My previous example was the CGI animated film
Resident Evil: Degeneration aka "Biohazard: Degeneration" (2008).

This looks like The Terminator, Iron Man, Blade Runner movies all styles mixed.

I looked at the link of in-game screenshots Brandonv provided and they are amazing!

Well, it looks like it's time to break out the old copes of Deus Ex and Invisible War

I was thinking the same thing. Actually I think there's an HD pack for Deus Ex, I wonder if it's any good?

Not so sure about IW. Twice now I've installed it and twice I've barely gotten past the second level before loosing interest. Not sure why exactly but it just didn't grab me the way the original did.

As for the new game, my main hope now is that when I first boot it up, I get treated to a nice remix of this awesomeness. I do wonder though, if the game is intented to show the events leading up to the formation of UNATCO, do we think the last mission will involve a certain statue on a certain island off New York?

Here's a first look at DX: HR's gameplay.

(Suffice it to say
