New For 2010 Wow! Stuff, a division of Wolverhampton-based China Industries Ltd, are set to launch a major new range of Doctor Who toys.
This is without doubt the biggest news in the Doctor Who toy world since Character Options were awarded their license in 2005.
This brand new range of Who toys ships in August and will be in shops from October 2010.
Following the success of their Top Gear range, the BBC approached Wow Stuff with the idea of developing an exciting new range of Doctor Who products aimed at a similar 'executive toy' type market. Although still at the prototype stage and hence no images yet, these are the toys that are planned:
* Desktop Patrol K-9
Wow Stuff Desktop Patrol K-9 is a robot with inbuilt sensors. Place it on your desk and this K-9 robot will not bump into anything and will not fall off the edge. Desktop Patrol K-9 can even wag his tail!
* Desktop Patrol Dalek
The Desktop Patrol Dalek has inbuilt sensors and is based on a Dalek design from the first Eleventh Doctor series.
* Hologram Chamber
This 20cm Hologram Chamber, or mirascope, comes with a Dalek and Tardis from the Eleventh Doctor first series. The Chamber creates an incredible floating 3D image of any object placed inside it.
* Davros Plasma Ball
The amazing Davros Plasma Ball comes with a detailed statuette of Davros partly encased in a glass dome filled with specially formulated inert gas. Place your fingers on the surface of the glass and coloured balls of light follow your every move. You can even feel the energy as it gently touches your fingertips. Its a Davros-inspired version of the Van de Graff Generator.
* Adipose Stress Toy
A desktop stress-relieving toy, when squeezed the approx 5" tall Adipose bounces back to its original shape.
* Sonic Screwdriver
The Wow Stuff Sonic Screwdriver is a screen-accurate die-cast replica of the 11th Doctor version. The Wow Stuff sonic has light and sound effects; the end opens and a green (not blue) light flashes. What's more it doubles as a DIY tool; it includes interchangeable heads (S, M, L) with reversible Philips and flathead bits. It takes 2xAA batteries. The makers claim this sonic is designed to be good enough to actually use in the show. There is a possible Sonic Pen & Torch planned for release as well, though this product is not as yet certain to be released.
* Following Cyberman
This approx 10" Cyberman's face is enclosed in an illuminating picture frame that can be placed on a desktop or hung on the wall. The Following Cyberman's eyes follow you around the room as its face lights up.
* Tardis Emergency Fund
The Tardis Emergency Fund is a great fun mini pull-apart keyring Tardis in which you can place emergency funds such as a five pound note.
* Doctor Who Key Fob
This neat rectangular key fob has a series of 6 push button sound effects - Tardis, Dalek, Sonic, Cyberman, Hath and Doctor Who theme.
