New TOS Enterprise 1/350 model?

One of the funniest posts I've read here in a while.

The plans are surrounded by guards (with guns) and video monitors, they are kept beneath an inch of bullet proof glass, there are heat, motion and biometric sensors, they are stored in a vault with four foot thick concrete, steal plated walls and an electric combination lock.
... now, none of this has deterred me from my quest. I'm waiting for the right Gala event (and my suit to come back from the cleaners) to make my move and see the plans in person.
Of course I'll most likely end up in Guantanamo Bay, but it is a small price to pay for seeing the Holy Grail of Star Trek tech!

Which was a consolidation project of information I had on the original Jefferies plans for the Enterprise. I didn't have enough completed on my work on the 11 foot model to share them publicly yet (even as blurry plans under glass), and I've taken to having a very short list of people preview my work in progress (short being actually a list of a single person, in this case Aridas Sofia). I doubt I'll have anything ready for the general public to see until early next year.

"Fred" - <thunk> That was my jaw hitting the floor. Holy crap. My "Man Room" (no, not the Man Cave from the cell phone commercials), has all kinds of stuff I have collected over the years in it, most of which isn't even on dispaly (thanks to an 11, going on 20, year old son who has taken over the room and made it the neighborhood hangout - at least I know where to find him). It is a separate building from the main house, but has all of his video games, a Pop-A-Shot, etc. that have taken up residence where I had planned to display all kinds of other things (I even had to take down my Heavy Metal limited edition film cell for cryin' out loud). At least I have a few cubic feet of room left.
As for your sainted wife, I also have a very understanding wife (even if I do refer to her as "She Who Must Be Obeyed"). She has stuck it out (albeit with the occauisional quibble) for 13 years of marriage and 3 years of courtship. Although she lacks the intriguing foreign accent of the actress who played the role, she more than makes up for it in other skills.
Back on topic - any word on whether this is a garage kit (which I doubt given the pedigree of the person involved) or a one-off for a customer? I haven't seen antyning one way or another.

So it's either a kit from Thomas or a master to a kit that someone else will produce. Either way I'm completely stoked. I really, really wanted to purchase a MR ship, but the price was WAY too much for my budget.
Plus, it was already built and painted. Where's the fun in that. I'll even go on record right now and say "put me down for two kits, please." I just hope that someone like Don's Light and Magic is working on creating the internal lighting rig and spinning fan thingy for her engines. I'll need 4 of those too!

You and me both. I saw a light up version of the Enterprise - E's nacelles in a modeling forum somewhere and couldn't believe that he had been able to produce the "plasma effect" (for lack of a better term) in the bussard collectors with a few LEDs. It looked spot on fantastic. Hopefully we can see the same thing for the Gray Lady.
Do you have a link to the model with the "plasma effect" for the bussard collectors?

LBElliot - I had to go scurrying around "My Favorites" only to discover that I had forgotten to save it! D'oh!! A few minutes with Google (and knowing what I was looking for) and I was able to find it.
I don't want to post a direct link for fear of breaching board rules, but if you cut and paste the following address you will go straight to the page that discusses lighting the NCC-1701-E (the molds for which were made by non other than REL). At the bottom of the page is a link to a movie that shows the effect. It is spectacular. Very well done indeed. In fact, the entire build is fantastic and the whole WIP is a great read with plenty of suggestions for how to use different techniques, etc. Highly recommended site.
