New To Voyager

How best to describe Voyager? It came into existence on the coattails of TNG, certainty. It does, regrettably, hold the least desirable position among all the series for being the one to start the spark to obliterate the prime universe. :)

They were twins.

Two brains.

But only one of them was a telepathic cyst.

(I haven't seen the movie in 15 years, but when I looked up the spelling 10 minutes ago, the word 'twin" was definitely used.)

But yes, DS9 was smarter than TNG.

Omega is an unstable type of molecule that can be used as a powersource. A small chain of Omega Molecules can power a civilization. If a single molecule explodes, it shreds subspace for hundreds of light years making warp travel impossible. A large enough cache of Omega molecules (which isn't that large a number) breaking down and exploding will make warp travel impossible in the entire Galaxy.

Stabilizing Omega is almost impossible, so trying to stabilize Omega, or use Omega is a big no-no, and there is a rule about it more important and more binding than the Prime Directive, since the end of warp travel for everyone is un####ing-thinkable.

Now I get it. Thanks.

If I recall correctly, the Borg were eager to find Omega too. So, making sure the Omega molecule is incapacitated became more important to prevent the Borg from using it.

I don't think that that specifically came up.

The Aliens of the Week got their math wrong and (some of) their omega blew up endangering a lot of subspace. The ingredients to make Omega are super rare which is why it's a once a century problem. If Janeway did her job right, Omega was half an hour away from being destroyed orderly to save subspace, and 29 to 31 minutes from being destroyed haphazardly wrecking subspace for thousands of light years in ever direction, making warp travel impossible.

The Borg getting Omega is a tomorrow problem, when they were well concerned only about today problems in this story.

As soon as the Prime Directive is rescinded, they were allowed to march down onto a prewarp world and kill every one to find what they want and take it. Hell, no prime Directive means that Torpedo strikes from orbit are allowed.

It's nice to see Kath roll her sleeves up, but what about the Santa Claus option?

"This is warp speed. You can have warpspeed if you forget about Omega."

I have finished S4. I really enjoyed One. Hope and Fear was okay but not as good a finale as Scorpion Part 1. Overall I thought it was the best season from what I've seen. Tuvok is even kind of getting a sense of humor!

I really disliked the Nemesis episode. It didn't make a lot of sense to me. For one thing, are the aliens speaking that indigestible gibberish? "My daughter's daughter" "Too long lived" "sturdy in the clash" etc... What the hell is up with that? And after everything has been explained to him in detail, Chak still hates the other guys? Does he actually think his mother is a turnip, as the doctor said?

I liked this story better when it was Remember.

Seriously, Nemesis was so shit, this is one of the episodes I didn't rewatch constantly despite owning it on VHS.

Did this come out before or after the Movie?

No, the episode predates the movie by 5 years.

I never understood what that movie title had to do with Dee and Will shaving each other in the bath tub.

Is the entire movie an ad for Nemesis Razor Blades?

Nemesis was the first Voyager episode where I continuously fell asleep. Must have been too much Chakotay for my brain to handle.

I thought Nemesis was a great episode, except the twist comes out of nowhere. Chakotay can really carry an episode if they give him something to do.
