Never had an issue with Twitter. Sounds like you are overreacting quite a bit though.

Are you checking Twitter from their website? If you want to be sure you only see the tweets from people you want, you can use a client like Tweetdeck until things get sorted out with Twitter. It allows you to create groups from the people you follow, and then you can set up dedicated columns for groups. I tend to check my columns for two of my groups before looking at the all tweets column.
