New TNG movie questions/ideas

IF there were to be a new TNG movie there are many questions that i wish to discuss:
Would it work much like the JJ Abrams' and start over?
If it didn't start over would take place between nemesis and DS9?
Would there be some sort of Data character, Such as the more primitive model from nemesis?
and
What would it be about?

You would probably get better responses in another forum, since this is for Abrams' new movie series based on The Original Series.

This seems like a topic which would be a better fit in the Future of Trek forum, so I'll send it along over there.

I think the actors may be up for it.

The key would be a setting/script. IMO, the last two storylines/concepts in the TNG films were what made Insurrection and Nemesis poor. A mirror universe TNG would be good. All of the cast could play double roles, and we'd see an evil Picard, which would make a change. :rommie:

Sure, you could recast the characters and set it in JJ Abrams' universe. (I'm sure everyone realizes that the geriatric nature of the original actors rules them out.) Just don't make it as safe and sanitized as the original, and you might be onto something. I've even got a few ideas for the recasting:

Picard - Wentworth Miller (this time with a French accent - with those eyes of his, you'll take him seriously, even if he talks like Inspectair Clouseau)
Data - Alan Tudyk
Worf - Isaiah Mustafa (I'm serious! :rommie:)
Yar - Katee Sackhoff (then she wouldn't suck so much they'd have to kill her off)

Oh no, Sackhoff as Yar? I love it, but they'd better keep her alive. I'm not the biggest fan of Yar's or Starbuck's deaths.

I'd like to see a TNG movie with a new cast and some guest appearances by the old TNG crew. Recasting is not an option, in my opinion.

Yeah, the idea is that they don't kill her off. And it's futile to think about any of the spinoff series coming back without accepting the necessity of recasting. Yes, even for ENT. Gotta cater to the 18-49 demo.

So they should do what Abrahams did. Re-cast all the characters and do a TNG movie with the nuStarTrek style and look. Can you imagine Picard saying Engage while being blinded by a lens flare?

Setting post-NEMESIS, however, use a cross section of select original cast members(characters) from NG, DS9 and VOYAGER.

While I think the chances of another TNG movie is somewhere between "zero" and "not in our lifetime," if the impossible did happen and one was greenlit within the next few years, I wouldn't mind seeing Riker finally take over as Captain of the Enterprise. I could see Frakes, Sirtis, McFadden, and Burton returning (and maybe Dorn if the money is right). Two new characters could be introduced to fill out the cast.

I think Stewart has moved on and Spiner wouldn't be interested in playing Data anymore (but maybe a new character, perhaps?)...

Why do you need to "Fill out the cast"??? The TNG movies had too many characters anyway, and half the cast was relegated to the background and maybe a quick pseudo cameo type roll. Frakes, Sirtis, McFadden, and Burton are more than enough character wise. Although I'm not sure any of them could carry a movie.

Because TNG was an ensemble series and they totally ditched that to become the incredibly dull "Picard and Data" show in the movies. With Stewart and Spiner now presumably gone, the opportunity would then exist to give other characters more screen time. The introduction of one or two younger characters (preferrably not teenagers) would also add some new blood to a cast that is beginning to sport more gray in their hair...

Worf - Isaiah Mustafa (I'm serious! :rommie:)
“Hello, warriors, look at your Emperor, now back to me, now back at your Emperor, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped using Romulan scented body wash and switched to Old Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re on a Bird of Prey with the Emperor your Emperor could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an bowl of gagh with two hearts of that thing you slayed in glorious battle. Look again, the hearts are now A WARRIOR'S DEATH. Anything is possible when your Emperor smells like Old Spice and not a Romulan. I’m on a targ.”

Didn't they have a "Justice League" idea for a fifth TNG film back in 2003, after they finished NEMESIS? I remember John Logan, Brent Spiner and Patrick Stewart talking about it.
