New Thundercats cartoon

We have a release date, and more!

The series begins with an hour-long special premiere event on Friday, July 29, at 8 p.m. (ET, PT). Following the premiere, the show will air regularly on Cartoon Network Friday nights at 8:30 p.m. (ET, PT) beginning August 5.

. . .

Cartoon Network will also air nine episodes from the classic ThunderCats series over the weekend of July 23. Boomerang will also host a classic ThunderCats marathon on July 16 and 17 and air the series every day at 5 p.m. starting Monday, July 18.

About time! It seems like it's been forever since that first trailer came out, and now it's exactly a month away. Plus, they will be showing the original series.

I don't care that I already have the whole series on DVD ... I'll still be recording and watching every episode. I mean really, 130 episodes and not a bad one in the bunch.

Who else is planning on tuning in?

My reaction to seeing a commercial for this series last night at movies:

:wtf: Really?!? :wtf:

But, to each their own.

Reminded me a lot of that He-Man reboot a while back, the designs are kind of cool but there's something that doesn't engage completely. I don't know if it's too dark or too stiff or what but I had the same problem with He-Man.

I love me some Thundercats, so I looked forward to this.

Synopsis: Young Lion-O... blah blah blah

The Good:
- It was well put together.
- Willy Kit and Kat
- I liked the lizard army
- Boobies!

The Bad:
-Thundarra is an awful place. The King's bastard son even carries a whip to beat the commoners. Burn Aristo-cats!
-It's like the writers stumbled upon http://tvtropes.org one day and exclaimed: "Oh my God! I've found something to replace my missing imagination!" The whole friggin' thing is built from parts of other stories. They even stole from The Little Mermaid!

The Ugly:
-"I expect you to fight like cats!" Isn't that like saying to a human army "I expect you to fight like monkeys!"?
- Clerics...really? I better not hear anything about levels.

Overall: Disappointed. Felt no thrill from the heroes, and no menace from the villains, and no wonder from Third Earth. Still it, I won't drop it yet. Of course if it's only 6 eps and and a year long wait till next season as is CN's Modus operandi for animation that actually needs animating, I'll probably just forget about it anyway.
