New TAS?

^^ That was a case of not having a choice. As I said earlier I generally don't like that style of 3D animation.

CGI animated series

I notice there are a lot of talented 3d artist online that have re-created TOS using 3d software. Why not have a new animated series in 3d featuring the original crew.

You are talking about a new series features the characters of Spock, Bones, Kirk.
Let's be very specific here...
Are you talking about a fan production or a new CBS/Paramount-produced series?
Played by models that look just like Shatner, Nimoy, Kelly? And using voices of Shatner, Nimoy, and a sound-a-like Kelly?

See this CGI animated Kirk, Nimoy, Kelly for the best work to date done with laser scanning to create CGI models.
Those laser scans should really be in Paramount's posession to use down the road...

Having an animated series is great because it brings kids into the franchise, which means more toys in the stores for collectors, and also you can do lots of wild planets, aliens, and space battles in animation that would be too expensive to do live action.

Plus, I like cartoons.

But if there is a new TAS, I really hope it's old school animation. I don't mean reused scenes and coloring mistakes, but the old fashioned, flat looking, traditional kind. Just because you CAN make a 3D animated show doesn't mean you should. Personally, I think the 3D animation looks weird and unappealing, too heavy somehow. I would LOVE a new TAS with traditional animation.

I recall watching Batman: Mystery Of The Batwoman as well as other DCAU movies and I just marveled at the colour and depth in regular animation. It was gorgeous.
